The new generation stick allows internet through the micro USB port. Adapter is £10. One lead to the mains and one you can plug an rj 45 into. Solved my wifi issues.
Everyone says the 2nd gen's are superior to the 1st, but I've got both and the gen 2 ethernet adapter, and I honestly see no discernable difference with them.

I get no buffering with either, don't have a 4k tv so that's not an issue. The kids have got my gen 1 upstairs in their bedroom with Prime, YouTube, Netflix, iptv and Terrarium, and again, there's no buffering issues at all.

So anyone suffering with buffering must have a **** poor internet connection or they've got a lot of interference between firestick and router.

Sounds like you have an old TV.
Main issue is YouTube is awful since Google kicked them out of the app. The web browser is just not as good

Firefox browser set to youtube TV as the homepage, it is 100% identical to the previous app which was in itself just a wrapper for the online TV interface.
Great device nothing out there better for the money these cost. Work well with iptv and a decent plex server your set.

2nd gen is worse in my opinion...they have removed the option to scale size of the picture..

Never had this issue myself. Maybe try resetting the stick?
I have one hardwired, but still works good via WiFi
EyePeaTeaVee works great with StbEmu/Perfect Player and Kodi,
LiveNetTV, Terrarium TV, Mobdro also work well
Got mine for £25 last year.
Not a great deal as these were £24.99 in December as I got one then and I’m pleased with it...although note it doesn’t support a NOW TV app. Worth mentioning as I wasn’t aware

The app wrapper was it using Firefox or silk previously?

I've got 200mb vivid, so with the Ethernet adapter I was rubbing my hands gleefully, but I honestly don't see a difference whatsoever in quality or performance.

Although the adapter does make it simpler when taking the firestick anywhere, I don't need to mess about with WiFi codes

Amazon removed Googlecast support. So no youtube casting /controlling from mobile phone.
Amazon dropped so these guys dropped with them?

- Not 4k as it isn't a 4k stick - Get the fire TV box.

- Poor quality?- It's full HD. I run movies in 1080p

- Buffering? - Get better internet.

- No LAN port? - Get the Fire TV box, once again.

Your aware the FireTV comes with a remote?

If the use of your phone is a dealbreaker get a chromecast.
Is there any use for these now all of the free Kodi links are down? Please don't respond with moral values on piracy nonsense, it's a valid question. I have my own code of living that it is important to me, and it doesn't stretch to lining the pockets of the super wealthy who exploit society for personal gain.

I think the words "free" and decent no longer go together with regards to Kodi.

Me personally I pay for a plex server with 50TB of content on it which is netflix esque but use eepeetv at £75 a year for live tv.

Not free but 100x better, I can now never not go back to the kodi build days and 40000 addons that don't work.

Theres lots of Kodi addons that still do this. In fact id say they do it an even more efficent way. I guess it would break rules to post the names of the addons. But its defienntly 'Fantastic'

So when are you planning on going back then?
Good tip. I got the last one in my local JL. Thanks OP.
OP .. "Price dropped @ many retailers,

Tesco Direct code floating about so might be able to get 2 for £55"

I WISH Argos would price match THAT?! (£55 price point for 2 Fire Sticks I mean?), lol.

I have some outstanding Argos credit I still need to get rid of ... hehehe.

Thanks for the response. I don't mind paying for something if it's good, but I currently have Netflix and Amazon Prime, and fancied something with more content. I will look into plex server. I've never heard of it before

I heard they'd all been banned now. Something about threats of ten years in prison and they pulled them all down
By the way can anyone explain why I can't get Netflix to accept my payment details? Is there some sort of problem I'm not aware of, or a fix? Any thoughts welcome.

Good point - I was disappointed about this too. I got one of these to replace my chrome cast which did all of the services apart from amazon as now have this that does them all except now tv!
