“Firewatch is a rare and beautiful creation, that expands the possibilities for how a narrative game can be presented, without bombast or gimmick.”
Rock, Paper, Shotgun

“Firewatch, then – on the strength of its gripping story, brilliant branching script, wholly convincing voice-acting performances, and stunning art direction – is easily one of my favorite and most memorable game experiences of this decade.”
9.3 – IGN

“Gorgeous and clever, Campo Santo's debut is a triumph of craft.”

ABOUT THIS GAME
Firewatch is a single-player first-person mystery set in the Wyoming wilderness.

The year is 1989. You are a man named Henry who has retreated from his messy life to work as a fire lookout in the Wyoming wilderness. Perched high atop a mountain, it’s your job to look for smoke and keep the wilderness safe. An especially hot, dry summer has everyone on edge. Your supervisor Delilah is available to you at all times over a small, handheld radio—your only contact with the world you've left behind. But when something strange draws you out of your lookout tower and into the forest, you’ll explore a wild and unknown environment, facing questions and making choices that can build or destroy the only meaningful relationship you have.

A Note: Firewatch is a video game about adults having adult conversations about adult things. If you plan on playing with a younger gamer, that might be good to know going in.

Beautiful game.

Just my 2p worth, but I found the first 10 mins or so very compelling, and a masterful way of getting you emotionally 'involved' in the storyline.

One of my biggest gaming regrets. Normally I'm more forgiving of indie games but it was horrendously boring with an unlikable protagonist and a poor story.

Can't be worse than PewDie...
I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Firewatch, it's worth the experience for 5.99

As far as I know his worst crime was telling people who refunded the game through steam after they'd completed it that they were a bunch of thieves? Which is fair enough really

Ah ok, yep agree - although I admire anyone who stuck with it. It's a lovely game but I got bored hiking around!
Was waiting for this to drop, thanks OP

More to do with the PewDiePie throw the toys out the pram rant he had middle of the year.

Great game, one of my faves I've played this year

Definitely a walking simulator but sometimes it's really nice to sit back, without peril, and enjoy a games interactivity.

Wouldn't give a penny to a developer like him. No wonder he's selling so cheap.

Well the lesson to learn here is stop making games so short they can be completed in a refund window and offer no replay value.
Thanks for this OP, made me realize that I hadn't looked at the price of the flame in the flood lately, also dropped to £5.99, so picked that up
I thought this game was great and have completed it a few times now. Great style of graphics and interesting story.
I was pleasantly surprised by this game. Bought it ages ago and only got around to playing a month ago and thought it was really engaging.

I don't like the characters and it's a tad formulaic on repeat gaming but still work a go at this price.

As for the dev, fair enough if someone wants to no longer pay for their game, but my view is as the creators, they have the right to request that their games aren't associate with people or organisations that they deemed to be incompatible with their company ethos. Especially when that person/organisation use it for direct or indirect financial gain.
