I bought quite a few from different shops last year and the best value and performance seemed to be the BOGOF box from Morrisons.

JTF for fireworks. By far the better of ANY retail store.

lidl 3 for £20 are mint.

This'll go off with a bang, or go up in smoke!....Who knows

Explosive deal

Please tell me how this deal is correct as the "FIREWORKS" start at £4.99. Yes the sparklers are £1.39 but come on sparklers are not fireworks, bit misleading isn't it. I only seem to be seeing what is probably sub standard fireworks (if last years ALDI purchase is anything to go by) at what is average prices. COLD.

How to throw money away, fireworks should be banned. Why don't you put your dosh in a high interest saving bond each year instead ?

Very clever, I like what you did there. You will go far.

Love fireworks night. Next-door's dog annoys me with noise every day of the year. This is the one day I get to annoy him with noise.

I can follow that logic. Can think of a few houses that should be purposely aimed at.

So, is it actually legal to import the batteries (cakes) into the UK for personal use?

I am not interested in bangers etc...

The cakes look very good quality and reasonably priced.

Why is it a Sale, what price were they before ?

From HMRC:

The following are also banned but in certain cases may be brought into the UK if you have the relevant licence, permit or defence:
firearms, explosives and ammunition.

Basically only retailers who are authorized to sell fireworks and professional pyrotechnicians.

Made the mistake of buying aldi fireworks at new years.... to say the kids were unimpressed was an understatement. Worst money I ever spent and totally ruined the party.

You could buy cannabis from Holland and get it posted. Still illegal here though.

Neverthess you'd prolly get away with it if u set them off and not store any.

Best place for fireworks bar none is Epic - Epic

Used to go to JTF when they did Men Shun fireworks but Epic stuff beats their range.

Newsbox Fireworks and Fireworks Emporium are all great stuff but pricey.

That's the spirit. In fact why don't you try and ban Christmas cards, alcohol, branded clothing and the lottery?

Do high interest saving bonds exist?

Go to a proper fireworks shop if you want anything decent and look out for these brands: Brothers, Royal Party, Sovereign, Celtic, Mars, Cube, Absolute, Jorge, Magnum Series, Vulcan and probably a few more I can't remember.

Failing that, go to JTF, The Range etc and get Bright Star/Guy Fawkes.

Failing that go to Lidl, watch video's on their website before you buy.

Asda, Tesco, Sainsburys, Aldi, Morrisons - last resort.

Relative to the rates given in bank accounts anything over 1% is high interest.

No Just keep last years and tipex over the writing and resend, No - dont be silly, Chav and Sports Brands Yes, The National One - probably.

I've changed my mind on banning them now. I will build up an armoury of fireworks now to fire at any uninvited animals that come within 15 ft of my property.

Argue all you like guys, there are legal limits to Pyrotechnics in the UK & EU. You can happily sit on your back side and buy ingredients for bangers, make them, and set them off as long as specific limits are maintained.

Mortars/Airbombs I'm not really 100% sure about, bangers/firecrackers and bottle rockets are only illegal due to sell an antisocial order and may be owned & used by anyone over 18 (providing there within EU regs), but those cakes & rockets are silly cheap compared to UK and legal to buy.

Cold.

No need for pathetic little fireworks that pale in comparison to professional display ones. Ludicrous that they weren't banned years ago. Cause so much unnecessary misery to animals and those they injure.

JTF have 1.3G fireworks this year. Much cheaper than the Epic site referenced too. Have to order and pickup though as they cannot store them instore due fire restrictions etc.

BEWARE

Importing fireworks from EUROPE is ILLEGAL. Fireworks are EXPLOSIVES and cannot be shipped across the channel.

DPD are NOT LICENSED to carry explosives.

You are likely to either A, never get your order as it will get stopped by customs or B, Get a visit from the home office for importing fireworks. Remember They are EXPLOSIVES and with the current terrorism level being so high you are likely to end up on a watch list.

Don't believe me then phone the Anti-Terrorism hotline and ask.

They're not legal.
I don't think it's even a grey area.

Oh you're completely correct about the DPD not allowed to transport them etc, well probably I've not checked. However you're not correct on the whole firecracker aspect, these I know for example you can legally own french firecrackers within the UK providing they're not category 4. airbombs/mortars etc then yea they're cat 4 and need a professional license but firecrackers/bottle rockets are simple anti social things and not due to them being classed as cat 4.

Anyway, I've been using polish & czech websites for the past 3 years. Fireworks are indeed a giant waste of money, but I've loved pyrotechnics since I was old enough to know of fire. If I'm going to waste money, I might as well spend it wisely and get my moneys worth.

If firecrackers/bangers are illegal to buy in this country and you are not allowed to import fireworks, why would you think French firecrackers are legal to own and use regardless of what category they fall into?

Thats not true.
Cannabis is only legal for sale in the coffeeshops everywhere else isn't.
Its technically illegal for the coffeeshop to buy it in the first place.
Its just a grey area and they don't really bother policing it. Spain and a few other EU countries are the same as long as its not enough to be classed as a dealer they don't bother.

The only legal cannabis you can buy is the seeds ready to grow, but the moment you germinate the seeds its illegal.
