About First Man [IMDB - 7.4]

On the heels of their six-time Academy Award®-winning smash, La La Land, Oscar®-winning director Damien Chazelle and star Ryan Gosling reteam for Universal Pictures’ First Man, the riveting story of NASA’s mission to land a man on the moon, focusing on Neil Armstrong and the years 1961-1969. A visceral, first-person account, based on the book by James R. Hansen, the movie will explore the sacrifices and the cost—on Armstrong and on the nation—of one of the most dangerous missions in history.

Gotta love sci-fi.

I found this a bit far fetched.

Well it's not as if they can take back the rental if they go bust so what's your point?
Not up to the standards of the directors previous work but still a damn fine movie

Fell asleep twice watching it, not for me but others seem to like it.

It's not a very flashy movie, it doesn't try and force you to have an emotional reaction which some will find more effective while others will find it boring. Personally the ending had me tearing up.
Watched it last week and loved it

Some good space docu-dramas available now. This one and of course Apollo 13. Can also recommend the little known Spacewalk - a Russian entry equally mind-boggling and death-defying as First Man. I saw it on Sky last month. It's probably still in the On Demand section.

I know what you mean they keep rehashing these make believe stories as you get older it becomes very boring
Voted hot for the price, but considering all of their movie have stereo audio format only, it’s a dealbreaker for me. Amazon has at least a 5.1.
I enjoyed movie even at 4 quid so 45p
Was curious about this but critics panned it! Is it any good?

Score of 84 from critics on Metacritic - that's pretty damn good. I enjoyed the film - it is slow in parts but it's a good film overall.

Must watch it, was put off by the reviews
Any other titles for similar price? I watched this one but want to take advantage of the offer.

Much better than I expected, La La Land bored me to tears, so wasn't expecting much from Gosling but he was good in this.
If you like anything to do with the Apollo era, you'll like this.
Absolutely loved this film in the cinema, so just had to get the 4k disc. Heat added by the way.
As a space geek who's read a lot of books and seen a lot of films on the subject, I was very disappointed with this film and would go along with what most critics have said. For 49p it's worth a watch, just for amazing cinematography, particularly the opening 10 minutes or so.
No spoilers please, for those who haven't seen it.
Cheap cure for insomnia...heat added
I got Halloween instead. Still hot though
Ordered, thank you

Where are you getting your reviews? It was a solid 4* all round. Empire gave it 5*.
I've tried to watch this film twice all the way through, but just fell asleep. Mostly because I started watching quite late at night & one of my neighbours knocked on my door to moan about the noise through my music system! This has put me off to watch it again whilst they are in I must admit the sound of a rocket going up into space shaking around was noisy (& sounded great) lol! Anyhow think from what I have seen it's great & do like the beginning.
Great film, shows what being in a rocket Is really like ie a giant baked bean can being tossed around in a BBQ

I really enjoyed it - especially great if you can crank up the audio!
On prime or Netflix
