I have been thinking of buying one of these.Super price and cheaper than ever.Excellent reviews.Hot and thanks for posting.

How well do these work ?

These work great if you have a log burner recessed into an enclosed area. They help push the warm air out and drag cooler air in

these are great

I have a couple of these re-distributing heat from behind an Esse 200 XK, and they do seem to do an efficient job. They are virtually silent in operation, and a good conversation piece. Make sure that you have enough clearance headroom, though.

There are reports of a few of these being wrongly wired/assembled, resulting in them sucking air rather than blowing it, but this is easily tested with a small piece of tissue paper or a lit match.

Good price and I would recommend buying one. Had one for a couple of years and they do work and are a good sign of needing more wood in the fire when it starts to slow down.

Sadly we've only got a clearance of 210mm above the burner so it's no good for us, had a look at others and can't find one short enough to fit. If anybody find one can they let me know as i would like to get one

I also have The Esse 200

I also have The Esse 200 but not as modern as the one you have got.

Hmm, WOAH!! ..whilst I like thermo fans such as this I do have to remind people to check their stove top both for clearance (already covered) & the stovetops typical temperature when in operation, as obviously different wbs's perform differently & will have different stove top temperatures.

So dependant upon what you measure as a typical operational temperature you may find you have to go for a different unit which is set to kick in at a lower temp.

Not all wbs are the same, often basedon perceived burn efficiency & baffle design.

To get a rough idea, you could use a temperature probe (the sort with the laser dot & I.R. ) ..or to get a rough idea, use your stovepipe thermom to get a rough gauge.

Different manufacturers have different models available, some, like the British designed & support maintained Vaillant brand or the Caframo brand (spares easily available for both) compared to a cheap copy from china, check your requirements at both of the above's websites rather than simply ordering blind.

For instance our efficient wbs top operates at a lower level so we would need a vaillant / caframo model which kicks in from between 60 -80c as our cast iron top runs pretty cool typically. (but useful heat within 5-10 minute from lit).
(my stove top does not get hot in the realm of the amazon stated units temps, whilst I can brew a hot esspresso on top or slow cook a big pot of food it doesn't boil a kettle.

So don't assume one size fits all, lest you be disappointed, these work, but like a pair of shoes have to be fit for intended purpose, which may mean paying a bit more.

Nice spot Gazzam, that vailiant I saw just last week in a showroom with a really low clearance, it made verygood use of otherwise wasted heat in a tight space.
