    I've got this exact model. My favourite splitting axe by far. Makes large log splitting a fun past time.

    For splitting smaller stuff I would recommend a thinner billhook type tool .
    Billhooks are pretty heavy and short and the 'Bill' helps increase the weight at the tip giving them increased chopping power compared to other knife like tools.
    Far better than anl axe for kindling/smaller firewood.

    I have a ooni pizza oven and have trouble chopping small birchwood logs for the pizza oven. Would this be overkill? I normally use a handsaw and it takes some effort and time to do that.

    Ha true. But I process about 4-6tonne of wood a year in my garden and this is a very good axe for that level of work.
