I've just started going to the gym. And eating healthy and being all fitness mad over the last 3 months, lost 15kg and feel better, I did look at this but the most interesting part is calories and steps and Samsung health app does that... do I really NEED this for anything useful or is it just another fad?

Vited hot btw price is great but not sure in general if I need one... thanks for any replies.

According to comments on Amazon I wouldn't buy this one - Fitbit is just the brand which in my opinion is a little bit overpriced (many may disagree with me) , but in my opinion this is an iPhone in a Smartwatch department. Smart band may be good tho to help track your health goals! I'm thinking to get one too.

I’ve been using the FitBits since their first heart rate monitor went on sale in 2015 (also prime day) and I just ordered this 2 days ago since my Charge 2 was getting a little old. I’m responsible for 10 of my friends/family getting a Fitbit; that’s how much I consider this a vital tool. Unless you know how many calories you’re burning, you can never truly know how many to eat and therefore lose/gain any weight properly. The app itself is so brilliant, that it brings the whole package together; the sleep insights, which tell you how you’ve slept and how you can improve it, alongside the visual aids of weight loss, weekly workouts and reminders to keep moving to reach goals and earn yourself medals 🏅 I seldom leave comments in order to sway people’s opinions - I just let people do their own research. However, since you seem to be on the fence, I’m going to be on my third FitBit soon, I have an Apple Watch which never gets used and I can tell you wholeheartedly that it’s been my only friends and ally against being unhealthy and fat. If you need an honest review, search for RizKnows on YouTube. I’ve also been following his reviews since 2016, they’re spot on 👌🏼 hope this helps. Feel free to ask any questions you may have regarding FitBits.
I tried both charge 2 and 3. Both were very inaccurate on steps and distance. I tried both auto and manual setting of stride length. I went on the fitbit forum and there seems to have been an issue with this for some time now. This put me off and I returned the 3 after a couple of weeks. Shame as I was really enjoying using it but I just felt it was a bit pointless if it wasn’t reasonably accurate.

Have you been able to find something better? Fitbits look good and software seems good, but seems to be allot of mixed feedback on build quality control and accuracy.

I haven’t. I tried apple watch 3 and this was better in a lot of ways, including accuracy but it was lacking fitness features that the fitbit had, and battery life of 2 days was frustrating. What the fitbit did and what it tracked were really useful and motivating but I found it all a bit pointless due to the inaccuracies. It was often around 30% inaccurate with steps and mileage. I now track runs using just my phone again at the moment, but am thinking about an apple watch 4 as I’ve read rumours that they are introducing more fitness features in the near future, lets see.
