Fix Radio App is Now Free

Just noticed the brilliant Fix Radio app is now free in all app stores for a limited time, it's a great station and well happy the app is now available for free.

The UK's first radio station for tradespeople

You won't hear the same old boring songs over and over again. Detailed and relevant weather forecasts. Cheeky banter from our DJs

Fix Radio is the only radio station in the UK dedicated to 'working class heroes' - the tens of thousands of tradespeople working on sites and in people's homes.

We're for builders, carpenters, electricians, plumbers, roofers, painters, decorators, scaffolders - in fact, anyone who makes their living in the trade. You can hear us on DAB radio in London and nationwide via this website, our iPhone and Android apps along with the RadioPlayer and TuneIn Radio apps.

You'll love what we do - we play a massive variety of upbeat music from the 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s and today - and there's loads of fun and banter from our cheeky DJs!

Because you listen to the radio all day at work and hate the same boring old songs being played over and over again, we have a no-repeat guarantee. Between 6am and 6pm every day, we guarantee you won't hear the same song twice.

We also know the weather is important to those of you who work outside, so we have London's most detailed radio weather forecast from the Met Office three times a day.

Fix Radio launched at 7am on Wednesday 26th April 2017. The world's richest plumber - multi-millionaire Charlie Mullins, founder of Pimlico Plumbers - pressed the button to play our first song, the 80s classic 'We Built This City' by Starship.

We know you work hard - and we're working hard to live up to our motto - "We're Nailing It!"

Banter with white van man? No thanks.

Nothing like a Monday morning snobbery comment. They'll be the first people you will call when you have a leak or electrical problem.
Do they play country and western for the cowboys?
I listened to the station but the song stopped half way and the DJ said he will put it on later to finish the tune.

Still waiting

Not a tradesperson, but heated just for the fantastic 'no repeat' concept alone. As if you listen to the regular stations for any significant amount of time you do hear the same songs very frequently, sometimes can seem like the are looping the same couple of hours tunes constantly...
Were these songs on their play list

Interesting concept and heat but it seems... odd in 2017 to charge for a radio-based app.

Still loving Radio X from when it launched.

Absolute radio have been doing the NO REPEAT GUARANTEE for years
It's my favourite station for that alone...plus they have decade based stations if like like lots of old music :-)
Over 40 years of music to chose from, I'd hope it's repeat free for twelve hours a day, though for the last 10 minutes the website says they are playing Dodgy - Staying out for the Summer, guessing it's not a 12"....

Also says a chap called Paul Burrell is on air at the moment
My local plasterer did a rough job and he listens to 'Smooth Operator' repeated regularly on Smooth radio. Gets a good FM reception on his stilts though!

Lol loving these comments I remember the good old days of Century Radio and Real Radio, this station is very similar but better plus they have half the commercials which is a plus point. Oh and the good old classic dance anthems on Friday/Saturday night like we had in the 90’s.
I listened to the station but the song stopped half way and the DJ said he will put it on later to finish the tune.

I do wonder if the DJ's are actually trades people themselves?

They don't look like the retiring age...lol But interesting to see many of them are actually in the trade.
Not for me but heat for a freebie.
'We Built This City' by Starship

wow, a reason alone not to download this.
Tradepeople - now I remember, that's why I learnt to do DIY all those years ago.
Fortunately I have left the UK's shores so no longer have the problem

Is it on Alexa (tunein, etc.?)
Good find OP

Considering the 'built' bit ties in nicely and it's a station for builders etc, the City bit is also good as they broadcast across London on DAB. At least give the station a try before writing it off instantly over one track.

What, wasn't he Diana's butler who never commented or made a penny from his working for her.
They'll never get any work done listening to that Western progranda. Ask your local Trading Standards political officer for a list of approved songs and motivational materials, posters, etc. We got our extension finished seven weeks ahead of schedule with just three deaths!!!

I'd love to think it was him, but guessing it won't be, though they do have a Prince Edward on Drivetime.....

You've moved to a country where it is legal to fit your own gas appliances? Or rewire your house? Guess you are not in a first world country
I was going to try this out and can see that the Android App needs to have access to your location, your device Id, and whether you have a telephone call (fair enough). But why does the App need access to your phone number and the remote number connected by a phone call? Its a radio app so why is it monitoring who you are calling or who's calling you?

I suggest contacting Android about this or calling Fix Radio, I downloaded via Apple and I gave permission for my location to be disclosed which is normal for any radio station or 90% of apps. I think you need to be a little more concerned about the government monitoring calls or your every move rather than a little radio station in London.

I find that they don't repeat during the day, but the following days I can hear the same songs repeated. And with each decade producing so much music, they must work with a limited playlist. 6/10 rating for me, still enough to stay tuned.
Rubbish. Magic fm all day and that's free as well, in fact most radio apps and stations are free, so what's special Bout this one? Cold
If you aren't listening to 6Music yet you shouldn't be allowed to use power tools.
