Great price this. Been looking at this for about a month now, most prices were around the £420 mark, some cheap deals on amazon if you don’t mind ordering from Germany but returns could be a nightmare. Dropped to £348 Boxing Day sales

Uk wise a few store offer similar prices. But where this really kicks up the value is 8.4% TopCashback available knocking it down another £30 or so to £318 if it goes through successfully

i collected from the store and wore it home with only a tshirt underneath, it was cold enough that puddles had frozen solid and I was completely comfortable 👌🏻

Initial voting suggests it’s too expensive for most peoples idea of a winter coat but I am guessing most people haven’t heard of Fjallraven either. Top quality gear, some of their very high end parkas are £1,500. The deal might get cold in here but it’s heat from me.

Would love a deal on this fjallraven.co.uk/exp…o-1

Yes I saw that, but not listed on TopCashback so would invalidate the 8.4% cashback claim most likely.

stikl, it’s an option if you want a guaranteed discount.

Frustrates me when people vote based on their perception of the product and not the ‘deal’, those voting cold could perhaps suggest a reliable retailer where it could be had cheaper?
Yep, voting gets bizarre at times on here, some folk just wouldn’t recognise a good offer if it came up and poked them in the eye with a stick. I think in this instance it’s more about a lack of knowledge about the product rather than finding it cheaper. I.e. why would I pay this when I could have say a North Face parka for half the money, not realising they’d be getting a far inferior product in the process.
Can someone explain why this is a far superior product to other expensive jackets such as North Face at half the price.? I’m all for quality but as a layman can’t see why this product is so superior to justify such a high price
You're on the wrong site if you think people vote for "quality at the best available price".

The perpetually hot HUKD favourites Tokyo Laundry and Charles Wilson are testament to that - pillars of the clothing industry that they are.

A few years ago this site appeared to be for the average person looking for a bargain, whether it was groceries, fashion or some sort of tech stuff, so a deal like this might have been posted in the knowledge that the reaction would be mixed - are you saying you honestly expect those who get excited at a few pence off a tin of beans to understand a product like this parka ?
That this site has changed is beyond doubt, with much less of the schoolboy smutty banter, and a noticeable increase in users whose English is poor because it is not their first language, rather than because of their education, and the deals posted have changed a bit as well............ perhaps that's just progress.

I would agree that top quality items like this are worth the money, but given our average weather, perhaps a slightly cheaper brand would be good enough for most people, especially when only going as far as the nearest supermarket to look for something they've seen on here !

Many years ago I was passing through Canada in a rather chilly December, and had to do some work outdoors whilst wearing only a type of ski suit - I remember being far too hot although there was thick ice everywhere, so can understand the value in a good quality garment, but just don't think it is needed by many people living here.
Hood with Removable Synthetic Arctic Fur is a + Heat added.

When you call North Face an expensive jacket, what are you comparing it to ?
Yes it's more expensive than something from Primark, but is Primark really your benchmark for price ?

I would imagine that this product has better quality insulation properties and perhaps even better quality stitching, so that it will keep you warmer and will last longer than a North Face for example.
If you have a good look at the range offered by brands like North Face and Berghaus, they usually have what look like identical items but at a variety of prices, so isn't it obvious that the most expensive items within a range are priced higher for a reason other than the pretty patterns ?
@kamenitzabrit - I agree and credit you on your writing of English but must point out that question marks and exclamation marks take the place of full stops (periods if you're american) and therefore do not require a space before them.

I am all for getting the cheapest price possible on anything (clothing whatever) but I also accept that with most things in life you generally get what you pay for. I am not suggesting North Face make crap gear just that it’s more of a mass market brand and that this inevitably has a cost in terms what you get for your money. In this instance I recognise that Fjällräven produce high end items in terms of materials and manufacturing standards, it follows then that (for me) the performance, durability and longevity of the garment would justify the extra money, not to mention weight, breathability etc, all the considerations to think about with serious outdoor gear. I’d be betting this Fjällräven will be going strong long after your North Face has found its way into the charity shop

No I’m not comparing it to Primark, I was giving my mixed reaction to the product you appear to be requesting. I use North Face as an example as I have recently purchased a downe filled jacket for £180 and the stitching is top quality as are the insulation properties.
I was asking for knowledgeable, not imagined, opinion as to why this product justified such a high price. For example I too have recently walked out along the North East coast in temperatures of -5c with just a t shirt under my jacket and was comfortably warm
How many days of wear are you going to get use out of for this? Artic freezing conditions in the U.K.? How long do these conditions usually last?

Worn with just a tshirt underneath? In freezing conditions?

With respect, I am guessing you don’t spend too much of your spare time in the higher and less hospitable regions of the UK, autumn or winter on a fell side or mountain in Cumbria for example

I'm pleased you like your north face jacket, but this isn't a north face deal. If you like alternative products then thats cool but a down filled jacket is a very different product entirely to this, I have a high end down filled jacket already and the care for a down filled jacket, and how it works in wet conditions (they are waterproof but this is a rating, it doesn't mean you can be perpetually drenched and it wont get wet) is again completely different. Down needs very specific care and treatment when wet and loses most of its insulation properties and takes a long time to dry. Synthetic dries within hours and continues to give heat, and we are a very wet country.

The North Face product that usually competes with this line is the McMurdo and again, completely different jacket. Try them both on, and see what you prefer - if you prefer TNF then thats great for you, but again, this isn't a TNF / Down jacket deal and this is the best price (when cash back factored in) I can find in the UK from a reputable dealer.

Theres a video review on this site here that shows the features of the coat and pocket layout:

as for how much time can you spend in the coat in the UK, if you are an outdoors person then a lot of the time. a well insulated jacket will be just fine as long as it is not roasting, you just wouldn't need to do it up. Obviously you wont wear it in the summer a lot, but autumn, spring and especially winter you will get a lot of use out of it, and it comes with a lifetime warranty.

I think this is a great deal. I spend a lot of time outdoors in the Cairngorms and have owned a TNF McMurdo parka for several years which has done me very well but as previously mentioned down requires a lot of care so this is a great deal imho from a fantastic brand. Heat from me
And forgive my poor punctuation.... I'm typing on my phone while watching Willow on TV
nearly out of stock for all sizes/colours..

oh and voted hot cos its a great deal for this item.

Ive had mine 2 weeks now and I love it. I've spent several hours in the snow in just a tshirt and it was immense. Today ive been on a 45 minute walk and it absolutely tanked it down and I was bone dry. Great coat.
