What do people think of Seattle as a holiday location?

We went there in 2009 and combined it with a trip over the border, via train, to Vancouver. Vancouver is often cited as being one of the best cities to live in, in the world, but I thought Seattle was a more beautiful and interesting place. The view of Mount Rainier from Seattle is amazing. Would definitely recommend going to anyone, especially at this price.
I've spent a lot of time over the years in both places and would compare the weather in winter to Scotland's. You're guaranteed a couple of really cold months and lots of snow. But while Scotland only has a 2 week long summer before its time to start wearing a jacket again Seattle's is long and warm and the scenery is great. You've got plenty of beaches too if that's your thing as it's right on the NW coast. Quite an expensive place though, even more so with the £ and $ much closer to each other in value than it was a few years ago but for the price of those flights you're still saving a massive amount. The average I used to pay for a single return UK to Seattle and back again was just over £1000 in the economy section of the plane. Sometimes got tickets for around £800 during the less busy time of year but never anywhere near the price of this scorching hot deal. You can hardly get a flight to the East Coast of the US for £300 return and Seattle is the width of a whole continent further away so pack a comfy cushion to sit on if you're lucky enough to get flight tickets this cheap. It's a long journey but worth it even if you pay full whack for the tickets.

do thomas cook ever do this from london airports?

The answer is almost definitely no...

Simply because the airline is focusing all these new flights to the USA from Manchester and avoiding the London blood bath market, where Manchester only has a few other flights to America.

By flying from Manchester they avoid having to compete with Norwegian, WOW Air and Primera Air, which are all new low-cost airline entrants on the London to USA market, in the last few years. The traditional carriers are also adjusting their prices to compete with these airlines, so prices are rock bottom and making a profit in the long run is questionable.

These £300 flights by Thomas Cook, are only a limited number and spread across numerous flights, so they can fill the rest of the seats on the flight with more expensive tickets, and it gets them headlines in the travel press for having fares this cheap and makes it known they now operate this route.

Doesn't look too bad although a week there may be a bit much, maybe go for 10 days considering you can get a flight from Seattle to San Fran/LA/Las Vegas for ~£90 return (£50 one way), you could hit a few places in one go. Seattle fly to San Fran (2hrs), San Fran fly to Los Angeles, Los Angeles drive to Las Vegas (4 hrs)...
