This stuff is absolutely brilliant! I've used it as edging for a passage way that I covered and for sealing the centre joint of my keter 8x8 shed and I've also used it for sealing a caravan roof. It is far superior than any other flashing tape that I have come across and an absolute bargain at this price. I'll be buying a couple of rolls for sure. I've been waiting for 6 months for this to come back instore.

No...its bitumen based flashing tape. It is quite thick and quite sticky....so best applied in cool weather...but once on....its absolutely awesome! You will not regret buying this, trust me! I'm actually excited about the thought of being able to buy a couple more rolls (how sad is that!!!!) because it has come in so handy for all kinds of outdoor sealing jobs.......:p

I agre, this stuff is great and really does stick like **** to a blanket.

I've used it on the flat roof on our garage to re-waterproof the edge where the gutter is and which, in my experience, is the first place to crack-up.

Anyone else think this would light up and flash when dark..... just me?

LOL - Heat added, better buy a couple of rolls to keep in the shed....just in case....you never know when you might need it (along with all the other tools / gadgets etc. that rarely get used, if at all !!)

This is the only thing that I've found to be completely successful in keeping the bloody kids still for any length of time.....

For your sheer enthusiasm OP about this tape a lot of heat has been added......might even buy a couple of rolls for problem flat roof areas I have.

Don't think I need any, but how can you not consider buying when the OP is this exited about the stuff!

Best not get any onto my hairy arms when using it, could be quite painful...¿

Used this on a shed roof as an emergency repair during the winter, stuck it down then put the heat gun on it for a bit. It aint moving!

Flashing tape is great- usable for roof leaks/repairs. And this is much cheaper than one of the main brands (Evo Stik)

Can someone explain what this actually is?

Wowhats

I have a felt flat roofed area, and i can see some mould on the inside wall. I tried climbing on the roof try to find any damage but couldn't find any. Do you think if i buy this tape and apply it on all the visible joints it may help?

Yes...definitely! (_;) This will stick well to the felt...and because it is pliable, gravity and heat will pull it down onto any tears etc....:p

Would this stuff seal along the bottom of our UPVC window/door frame on the outside of the house where the ants got in last year? Our landlord doesn't seem to think an ant invasion or wintery draughts is enough of a reason to get off his bum and do something about it..

@ perkypig Thank you will buy a couple.

Perfect for a prank. Got a stag doo end of the month.

Is this self bonding tape that can be wrapped round a leaking pipe to make it water tight??

Yes - I read Flashing Tape and "Bio Luminous"

Very interesting post, i've been educated here, and a more than fair price for what it is and the quantity. Hot!

If you have mould on your inside wall it could be for a number of reasons, is it damp caused by another source or is rainwater finding its way in possibly where a wall butts upto the flat roof? Try to find the source. Applying this tape on flat felt joins wouldn't hurt and may be the answer to your problem.

flashing tape bit luminous..now we can have fun in the dark

Its generally this sort of price in most trade places - fantastic thing to keep in the shed. I've patched all sorts up with it over the years.

I'd recommend using a heatgun and small roller to apply it - apply in cold weather and the bituminous layer simply won't adhere properly and will peel. You need to melt the bitumin a bit to get a really good seal.

My wooden A shaped shed roof is felted but the felt has cracked at parts along the edge, would this be a good alternative to re-felting the roof? If I stick a strip the whole length of the edge?

Sounds like the tape should re-seal and repair it again for a bit more use, but it's always a good idea to re-felt the roof if it's starting to crack and split after a number of years. As more cracks will appear as time goes by. Unfortunately flat felted roofs don't stand the test of time like a tiled roof. My shed started to crack and split after 5/6 years and high winds confirmed one day that it was time to re-felt it again. Your local Wickes or builders merchant stocks flat roof felt, and Youtube must have videos on how to fix it.

Thats what I did, although too late as my roof was already starting to sag

Is the damp on a wall where the flat roof meets a higher wall? If so this is the classic leaking area that flashing tape is designed to seal.
(Also commonly known by a trade name, "Flashband".)

Your right! A new modified panel is £50 plus clips and seal. I saw this and thought sounds like a cheap fix and is black.

Do you think this tape would seal over a small hole in my pond liner please? The tape would be underwater though. Thanks if you can help me (and my fish!) out...

usually closer to £20

For a pond liner you should use Butyl flashing tape. This tape is bituminous and is not really compatible with a rubber based Pond liner.
