If you wear a uniform at work, and have to wash, repair or replace it yourself, you may be able to reclaim £100s of tax for up to five years of expenses.

This applies whether it's just a branded T-shirt or you're a fully uniformed pilot, police officer or nurse. Don't pay a claims firm, you can do it for FREE.

Your tax code will change so its an extra £60 of free pay

PLEASE NOTE: This is not £60 tax back rather its £60 that you don't pay tax on. For basic rate its £12 and for higher rate its £24 a year. This will cover costs of washing your clothes.

No need to keep records if you claim the flat rate deduction.

The tax code for the new tax year is 1185L that means you can earn £11850 before paying tax. Adding this will make your tax code 1191L saving you the £12

Also more details on MSE here

Some workers get more. Check the list here

For instance a mechanic would get £120 free pay so £24 tax back.

Remember you can claim back for four years including the current year so get cracking

Surely everyone knows about this by now. Unless they've been hiding under …Surely everyone knows about this by now. Unless they've been hiding under a rock for years.

It's surprising how many people have never heard of certain things such as EHIC, passport fees & stamps going up, marriage allowance, free access to firewalled newspapers, uniform expenses etc etc

These posts generally help quite a few HUKD'ers as long as they stay as a Deal for a few days - the minute they go to Misc, they are lost.

What if you are new to the world of work, a school leavers perhaps.

Or new to the country and have previous worked aboard.

Post like this are useful for people.

Just because you havebeen familiar with something for years doesn’t necessarily mean everyone will be.

The one that always suprises me is that higher rate tax payers don't claim back the 20% tax relief on pension contributions. Over the years it can be thousands.

What about a stale live chick?

Try and see.
Just applied hopefully I will get something back
I'll have to get around to doing this later, I've never claimed for my Nursing uniform even though I have bought maybe 4 pairs of shoes, 5 t shirts and 4 pairs of trousers.
Does anyone know if you get the £60 as a cheque or via your payslip??
