Massive LOL. Yeah, wasn't he sitting in a rubber ring in a billibong? :-D

Personally I would not fly anywhere long haul with Quantas. Even worse than BA. Fine if you are less than 5 foot tall and like to be cramped and fed rubbish for hours....

Not voted as price may be the most important thing for some.

which airline would you recomend then? as BA and quantas are classed in the higher end bracket for flights

STA are doing a Quantas round the world for 599 at the mo if you're

Both rated 4*, what's your point? :?

I agree. Qantas is not great. And in some ways very similar to BA.
Surly staff, lack lustre service, poor food, uncomfortable seating, no Video on Demand on all flights.

There is so much choice of airline on the "Kangaroo" route.

The Far Eastern airlines beat them hands down
(eg Singapore Airlines consistently offer excellent service and facilities)
Try them too.

Contradicting yourself a bit there! :?

Although it wasn't as higher end as i expected after an excellent BA connecting flight to Singapore I can't really complain with Qantas as had no qualms with the service or staff, got me to Sydney so served it's purpose for me!

what what what?! link please!!!

Nice price ... Voted Hot

Reading some of the negative vibes about Quantas I decided to get a bit more informed as I'm flying with them XMAS time, having searched through various review forums the general feeling over Quantas is that they are a very good airline. Thats the general feeling, of course there are those that thought they were rubbish and have bad experiences to report, but its the same with every airline I looked at, even some of the 5star ones.

As for the link to a site banging on about safety at Quantas, I'm fairly sure if you created a airlinesucks site for any airline out there you could dig up just as many 'alarming' articles. Quantas, I'm certain, are many many times safer than your drive to work, as with all flights.

Puke.

Quantas are bad, BA are even worse for long haul. Chances are you'll fly one way with Quantas and then the other with BA who have terrible customer service. If you're travelling by yourself and don't have children then it is a good price.

Was the caviar not served at the right temperature?

Yes, and I bet the champagne wasn't quite bubbly enough.

I think i'm right in saying that there's only about three airlines which have the highest quality rating around for food, comfort and service, etc, and they would be Malaysian, Cathay Pacific and Singapore Airlines. Go with one of them and you shouldn't be too disappointed.

I went to aussi last summer with singapore airlines for £816 pp, where the service was excellent and the food was brilliant but for this price, I don't really care. I wouldn't base my holiday around the flight. Very tempting offer. Great post tricky.

Actually - QANTAS, BA and KLM 'codeshare under the banner oneworld. you could quite easily buy a qantas ticket and be on a KLM plane or a BA plane with any staff from any of the airlines.
i flew out a year or so back, lon to sing on a Qantas 747, then it magically turned into a code share in Singapore and some KLM and BA passengers got ot.
It was business so i went up front (very nice too) but the wife and kids tagged along in the cheap seats and had no complaints.
also - about the video on demand - i think you'll find they have won awards for their VOD system.

No i am not biased - i worked on their jet base (overhaul facility) in sydney for 3 months for a supplier. they are a very demanding customer.
Having said all of that - Sydney is a TOP destination - if i had the cash i'd be back like a shot.
as someone said to me out there - if you want museums - go to england, they do them great.
If you want beaches and surf - Come to Oz.
Taronga zoo, the sea life centres, the wildlife parks, the botanical gardens with the fruit bat trees, the opera house, the beaches, sunsets of the city from watsons bay.
Man - if there wasnt a credit crunch - i'd have talked myself into a trip back.
Bear in mind though when our clocks go back - and the nights get long - their days get short. very short.
light at 8am dark at 4pm.

flying BA or Q to AU is the way..........two companies back each other, get Qantas Club membership for £200 a year and BA/Oneworld lounge access is yours the world over - £200 a year for unlimited airport drinks

Qantas are total garbage, possibly the worst there is

Yes, this is true. I take what I said earlier back.

In fact, Quantas are such an apalling airline that the better and far cheaper option would be to purchase a kayak and row your way there. You can catch fresh fish and so the food is far better, there is never a wait to use the toilet and you can stretch out as far as you want, no chance of DVT onboard your kayak.

You can find courses on how to use kayaks and kayaks for sale at the following address:

canoekayaktrader.co.uk/

Enjoy

The OP link won't seem to open for me.

Food leaving LONDON on Q is provided by the same company BA use ?

on what basis?

have you flown with etihad, china airlines or united?

which airlines have you personally compared services on the same routes please?

i travel between oz and uk quite a lot and i know the service most airlines provide and it also depend on the age of the plane.... in know which planes not to get and will change thge times to get the better plane.

personally malaysian airlines has been the best and most consistent in my experience and occasionally has been the cheapest bar etihad

on the basis of my own personal ranking system for airlines, that's on what basis

oh right sounds conclusive...

easy to make statements like that but it takes a little bit of intelligence to give an explanation on how you have come to that conclusion, comparing which airlines and what exactly was poor etc

feel free to explain but doesnt look likely from your smart response posted above ...... you sound like my 4 year old nephew lol

is that you taylor?

Hate to be picky, but for all those people spelling Qantas with a U, there is no U in it.

And yes they are ****. You want to fly to Oz - go with Singapore Airlines. Get on one of their new A380 aircraft and you will never fly with another airline again!!!
