Brilliant prices for flights to the Maldives from Milan. Use your Avios to fly to Milan cheaply or Easyjet/Ryanair. Dates are mainly in September 2015.

Flights are with Oman Air a 4* Skytrax Airline, reviews airlinequality.com/air…ir/

Note that some flights are operated by Sri Lanka Air which is a 3* Skytrax Airline. I haven't looked if stopovers are permitted in Sri Lanka, but great prices nonetheless.

May be a good price to get there, albeit from Milan. But that only gets you to the main island and its not really there most want to go.
Add on transfer flights to a holiday island plus hotel costs and budget for food and drink and your holiday soon becomes very expensive again.

If you are considering the Maldives then I guess its going to be expensive anyway, however you get there. Hotels are really expensive but they are budget places such as Airbnb, etc....

Hmmm....

Home to airport 2 hours
Wait in airport 2 hours
UK to Italy 2 hours
Wait in airport 2 hours
Italy to Male 18 hours (best)
Wait in airport/for boat 2 hours
Male to Island 2 hours

Not to mention the stress of potentially missed connections!

Makes Skeggy look attractive!

Les, I don't think this is the holiday for you!

Even if you went from London, or any UK airport to Milan, or in fact anywhere else in the world, no one can change the fact it is going to take you 2 hours to get from your home to the airport and that you have to wait in an airport for 2 hours! That's standard for you whether you fly to Spain or the Maldives!

If you intend to go anywhere other than Male then there will be another flight or ferry, again that's standard with most holidays to the Maldives. Yes there are stops in these flights but if you miss them the airline will sort you out, its on one ticket..

Alternatively book a flight from London to Male for around £460 at its cheapest with Aeroflot, a Russian airline and have a stop in Russia.

If it was me, head to Milan spend a couple of days in Milan, enjoy the Duomo and visit the amazing 'last supper'. Then fly to the Maldives. Find budget accommodation such as Airbnb or cheaper options.....

Enjoy

cold. not a uk based deal.

Rachelandgromit,

Thank you so so much for your posts to date, I have been reading them with interest and now I finally have the leave to do my dream west coast USA road trip. I would be extremely grateful if you could have quick look for any open jaw or otherwise cheapest flights. We intend to travel the stretch between Portland (or Seattle) and LA (or San Diego). Very flexible and don't mind which direction we go in (south to north or north to south). Our dates are outbound on 13th or 14th August, returning on 2nd-4th September 2015. I'm based in London so can fly out of any European destination.

Hope you can help as at the moment the flights are coming in at GBP800+ each making the cost of the trip over-budget and not in the shortlist..

Thank you so so much again.

Cheers

Great, thank you so much!

rachelandgromit,

After losing in negotiations with my wife we have now decided to spend 3 weeks in South America rather than the USA. We'll be flying in/out of Cusco, Peru and Rio, Brazil same dates (departing 13th August, returning 3rd September). We don't mind which city we fly into and can fly out of anywhere in Europe. If you can help that would be great, the best price I can find is GBP700 exc flights from UK to the relevant European city (another GBP200).

If you can help I would really appreciate it (when you are back). thanks!

rachelandgromit - did you have a chance to look for any deals for the South America? Unfortunately I can't find any for less than £800pp now so your help would be much appreciated, I intend to book this weekend. No problem if you are away and sorry for bothering you.

Cheers
