I don't need this. I have no use for this.
And yet I'm having an internal fight about buying it.

Hey this guy's on to something.

The car gives you the power to travel long distances you say? Pshh, just use the feet that you would need to use the pedals and walk. Money saving genius!

Doubt its that sensitive. Would be kind of neat if it was possible, especially for finding people lost after an earth quake.

No, IR doesn't travel through walls. Can only see someone if they lie up against an incredibly thin wall causing it to warm up.
This is what they'll use at airports to monitor incoming passengers for quarantine.
Any with more sensors with good review. Don't mind paying a bit more
I suggest reading the 1, 2 and 3 star reviews on Amazon before buying.

Battery life/reliability is one of the main problems it seems.

Also, 80 by 60?

If pixels then you might as well play Minecraft for all the good that blocky resolution will have.

That's not too bad for what you need it for.

Remember it overlays it over a proper higher res picture.
I purchased a Seek Reveal Pro FF 320 x 240 Thermal Imaging Camera last year to detect any electrical issues, damp, leaks and draughts when refurbing an old building it was over £400 and its probably the minimum resolution to get good accurate results. Other uses are seeing in complete darkness which is weird and Covid shopping as I can set it to only display images of people with temperatures above normal

Battery life 1h
the demands are limitless , but price is £177, extend buget to £1500 and you will get all sort of resolution etc.
to check heat leaks , plumbing and simple diy fun it looks fine.
the reviews on these are appallingly bad; even down to people complaining that on the pro version you can't remove the watermark on videos you shoot.
Why does it need GPS and location permissions to work?
Why oh why did you post this?....

Or just turn the lights on. I use this feature in my house all the time when it gets dark and it really works well. Whoever desgined the house foresaw the darkness issue and put a light switch in every single room in the house. Genius. I click the switch and get instantaneous light. I am well pleased.

It's not about seeing in the dark. It's about seeing how warm things are. Just as useful in daylight.
Don't need it, deffo want it.....Bloody site!
Looks good for locating your underfloor heating pipes before drilling a hole in the floor.

Like Amazon reviews are reliable

Most of the bad ones are.

You need to suspect some gimmicky item that has dozens of 5 star reviews all using similar phrases, especially if the phrase is one that is not commonly used by native English speakers.

One of the tests the fake-review algorithms use to determine if further investigation is needed by Amazon.
I have the SeeK Compact and its great (its resolution is 206x156), but the problem is that it cant do MSX (overlaying the thermal image over a real image) because that feature is patented by FLIR.

There are some cases where that is useful or required (usually when you are further away from trying to find a heat source), most of what I use it for is too find shorts and faults in electronics, in which case the SeeK and a homemade macro lens are fine as long as you have the board in front of you to reference what you are looking at.. if you put the image into a document though an overlay image would be better and I imagine the 80x60 resolution (which is actually not considered low - for example we have a 4x4 thermal sensor at work, and it can detect people with the right algorithm) would be fine.

Tempted at this price.

I've attached an example of the sort of quality (at 206x156) you can expect at this price point.. if you actually should be buying this I assume you already know this but just in case someone is fancying one at the price without any experience bear in mind it will be comparable to this.. (for scale the connector at the bottom in black is a microusb)

I can' t see through walls either which is annoying but I have a work-around whereby exiting the room I am in then going through the door and into the room on the opposite side of the wall. I then find I can see everything clearly that was originally blocked by the wall. It is not ideal but it does work.

Did anyone know if this can find slugs in garden??

I didnt have any slugs in my garden and this device also did not find any slugs, so in that respect it worked.
Edited by: "PeterPiperPicked" 13th May
I've actually got one of these as opposed to most of the people commenting on this.

It's ok.

If you want to look for cold spots in your house and draughts it works fine. The resolution is fine for that type of work.

The battery is a problem, as is the software as getting it to work can be an issue and connecting it can take a while to work.

This is not some professional thermal device for chasing criminals from police helicopters. Not can you see your neighbours through the walls.

I find it very helpful in finding issues with my insulation and fixing it so if that's your reason it will works well.

That why I love Fakespot. Although now I can spot a fake review a mile off. It saves me reading through all of the reviews so still use it.
Hi - I have a plaster board wall that has metal studs would this camera be able to help pick them up? Many thanks
