Shame it is full of hydrogenated fats. Buy Clover or something else.

Have you got a source for that claim? My understanding is that Flora does not now contain trans fats.

Guardian Article

Mind you, I personally wouldn't buy Flora anyway.

Flora may not now use hydrogenated fats, although it certainly doesn't claim to be free of trans fats, which one would think would be a major part of its 'healthier spread' positioning, and I haven't been able to find a definitive answer. I think, but I am not sure, that Flora claims to be 'virtually' free of trans fats, where 'virtually' in marketing-speak means less than 1%. When Flora was full of hydrogenated fats it still claimed to be good for your heart and health, even when Unilever knew the opposite. Maybe Unilever doesn't make the claim that being free of hydrogenated is a health benefit in fear of being sued for all the years it claimed that Flora was good for consumers' hearts when Flora was full of hydrogenated fats. That disingenuity, and the way it tastes horrible, is enough reason for me not to buy it.

Ok fair point, what is best then?

Flora

Just buy real butter. It's butter.

Flora and all these 'spreads' are a joke. Just marketing. If 10 years ago someone had said Flora would market a manky product trying to be butter-like most people wouldn't have believed it. Flora was always horrible and now it's just daft and over-priced marketing (although it was always that too).

Butter is just milk. If you're overweight, obese or are frightened about getting like that use less butter. Just don't fall into the trap of these disgusting tasting enhanced water-filled 'spreads'.

your picture made my eyes go funny

The wife buys this every week so i'd better tell her, i don't REALLY eat it myself its mainly the kids but i don't see what the arguements about, its not like were putting butter on every morsel of food we can find. Toast and cheese sarnies.

Very good price for this, all dairy products through the roof nowadays so any deal is good.

Co-op does £1.69 for 2x500gr Utterly butterly.

I find this rancid - nothing buttery about it in terms of flavour.

Some of the comments on here are pretty entertaining though.
