Flu jab £6.95 at Jaysons Pharmacy in Long Eaton (between Derby and Nottingham) and Wollaton (West Nottingham)

Some of us don't get the flu jab for free! £6.95 compares well with Tesco (£9) and Boots (£12.99) and is 5p cheaper than Asda (£7). And some people prefer a local pharmacy to a supermarket.

An interesting perspective, but multiple instances of peer reviewed research have demonstrated that flu vaccination lowers winter mortality from flu. I'm not only glad to have it, I'm also willing to pay for it!

Studies have shown that the flu jab does work and will help prevent you … Studies have shown that the flu jab does work and will help prevent you getting the flu. It won't stop all flu viruses and the level of protection may vary between people, so it's not a 100% guarantee that you'll be flu-free, but if you do get flu after vaccination it's likely to be milder and shorter-lived than it would otherwise have been. There is also evidence to suggest that the flu jab can reduce your risk of having a stroke.- source

Agreed... But who's going to argue, after all the medical experts must be right... right?

You have to be collossally thick to believe anti-vaxxers. Vaccines are proven. There is no argument here, it is simply fact. Like Evolution.

Yes, some vaccines contain some mercury. Have you ever eaten tuna? Guess what, you've consumed mercury! Oh no, let's ban Tuna from sale!

The study linking Vaccines with autism has been wholly discredited and disproven. The "Doctor" behind it has been struck off. His study was complete agenda-based non-science. Nonsense too.

But it says vactruth so it must be teh Truth that They dont want you to know. Pharma shill ..

Why is this cold? Where can you get this cheaper? I get mine every year. In fact, I'm going tomorrow. Anyway, I'm 29 years old and normal in fitness/health terms. I've been around people with the flu and I've never caught it, so surely it works... Anyway, thanks for posting op. Although, it's not benefiting me personally, I'm sure you've helped a few people out.

Heat just for mentioning Long Eaton in the deal

Mikey123

Why is this cold?

It's not cold, it's the flu.

Seriously, I don't know why it's being voted cold.

I'm voting hot.

Pukka deal

educate before you vaccinate = very cold from me

Must say I don't understand that first part. Are you saying flu vaccination should be delayed until the education system has been overhauled? So it's cold, because you'd rather see NHS funds go to schools? If so, then that's flawed, since this deal is for those of us who pay for our flu jab; not a vote on how tax should be spent.

Educate yourself on the flu vaccination before you have it

Christ, if you're looking for INFORMATION about vaccines, a website called 'vactruth' would most certainly not be a good place to start... Honestly!!

Oh, okay, thanks, Pukka deal! I get it now.

Why is it a cold deal, then? I have educated myself, I do choose to have it, and this is the cheapest I've found (and from a local pharmacy too, not a tax-dodging megacorporation).

Good price can't see why this is getting cold votes HEAT added

Thank you to the hot voters! I'm baffled myself as to how cold this got, and how quickly.

If I was paranoid, I'd be asking myself if it's a vaccination denier conspiracy. (_;)

That was so well written, I initially thought it was a bit of satire X)

Anyhoo... I don't get it on the NHS, but given a weakened immune system because of my disease, I'm thinking about having it this year. Bargain price, so added heat, for what it is worth.

Don't go for flu jab, don't gamble with your own health.

and more heat for mentioning wollaton

I work for nhs in Scotland so get offered flu jab for free. there is no live virus in the jab so won't make you 'gamble your health'. they wouldn't give it to millions of people each year if it hadn't been tested and approved.

Might even heat up to zero by the end of the week, at this rate.

So many ignorant little **** heads on here. The flu jab works, I administer 10 + a week.

Agreed.

And I see the effects of the flu within hospitals. Put simply, by having the flu jab, you are not going to pass the disease onto an elderly person or young child who is vulnerable - and they may end up in hospital.

Herd immunity & what not.

Hey, I think I've got it! Here's my theory. Some users here think it's like "hot or not", and vote on how much they like the pictures. So I post a picture of someone about to get injected, and of course it goes rapidly deep sub-zero.

Should've used a cat picture instead. Tch.
Edited by: "sylv" 24th Nov 2014

Heat from me.

It's possibly cold because of that awful picture.

Seriously, I was once in a doctors reception and saw a poster about flu jabs with a big ass needle on it, just from thinking about it, I passed out and woke up throwing up in a sink.

The idea of paying for an injection is a living hell for me personally.

Thanks, although you didn't have to. I'm fine when I'm sitting down comfortable at home, I can watch medical crap on TV and stuff. It is just in real life when I'm standing up and see or hear about needles and stuff that for some reason I get some panic attack type fainting thing.

Look at that, all the way back up to -3 already. Just imagine how hot it would be now if you had gone with the picture of the cat!

I'm a United fan, Still got to dislike Derby though, I didn't vote btw, I don't know if it's a good or bad deal, I thought it was free for the over 60's and people with various other medical conditions, I wouldn't have it unless I was in those categories.

Yep. Those for whom flu can be a life-threatening illness get it free, the rest of us don't. In my case, I spend some of my day visiting people in their homes; some of them, elderly or sick. My choice to get the jab is because to me, it's worth it to lessen my chance of getting the flu and the two weeks of misery it brings; and to lessen the chance that I'll spread flu into the homes of people whose lives could be threatened by it. Explaining my choice here, not telling you or anyone what you/they should choose!

This is the best price in the UK, I believe, for those of us who have to pay; it's certainly the best round here (and it is a local deal). Even if was the same price as Asda, I'd still choose the locally owned pharmacy.
