Thanks got my flight to Belfast for £15.99!!

OwlEye

Thanks lots, very thrilled as I miss the great days of abundant mega cheap flights (had 3x days out from Manchester to Dublin for £2.42 each 5 years ago!). Got myself a single to Glasgow from Manc in November, a Saturday for £8.35!!!! Very thrilled. Nothing coming back for a day trip but can get nice virgin train for £8ish with railcard. Brill! Played around lots tried all destinations from Manc but nowhere else as cheap or really do-able for a day trip.

Saw this airline for the first time the other month whilst queuing for my KLM flight. My friend and I took to calling it 'flyb' no pronouncing the e as that how it appears. Now I can't see the logo without going 'fllyyyyb?' and laughing to myself.. Are these similar to RyanAir for the cheap fares but pay for everything else, so it ends up costing you more in the long-run, type deals?

pmackers

Lying B stards, its the same price as usual!! £61.98 for the cheapest belfast to london fare just paying the taxes. Yeah right

hotdealseeker

Hasn't they just reported a lost of 40m last year. Better pay with credit card.

discoinferno

Not great as taxes are now so high. Could go somewhere nice and sunny instead for the same price!

Still dearer than Easyjet going Belfast to Glasgow return. Working out £30 dearer. Even the staff call them Fly Maybe as they cancel that many flights.

Fares are £10 tax is the other £90... I have BMI Miles to use on the same basis. I had enough points to fly to the US this year but the tax made it more expensive that buying the whole ticket from Virgin.

1982john

still worth a dive though considering it could save you £100 fare.

gary_rip

Ummm.... 6. The bonus flight voucher covers the air fare only. Taxes, surcharges, insurance, advanced seat assignment, baggage, customs fines, immigration fees, airport charges, fuel surcharges, agricultural inspection fees, security, customer user fees or any other charges related to the booking must be paid by the voucher holder when making their flight booking. Not really free then.

Problem I've had with them in the past using my airmiles is that taxes and fees somehow make a "free" flight often uneconomic over a competitor.

equalityforall

troubleshooter, you did a good job with your post, and added lots of information to provide a well rounded view of what the offer was. Potentially great for someone that flies with Flybe a bit, who will collect other points too. I've flown with them and was impressed. Otherwise, someone who may want to switch card companies, and get a flight as a bonus, as they can check total price to pay on taxes etc, before deciding whether to take the offer up.

littlemeglet

having checked some but not all flights from Newcastle the taxes/charges are far more than the cost of any flight ticket, I could fly British airways cheaper, not so good deal me thinks. not voted cold or hot as someone may find a good deal

I've never really understood how Flybe survives, as their prices always seem to be so much more expensive than other budget airlines. Who the hell is dim enough to go with them?

biggeoffc6

Flybe are without a doubt the most expensive of the 'no frills' airlines. I would love to fly Southampton(25miles away)-Nice with them 5 or 6 times a year but, by going with Aer Lingus or Easyjet from Gatwick (105 miles away) I save at least 50% -70% each flight and that includes Nat Express bus fare.

twoweedogs

Seems expensive! Booked 2 return flights yesterday with Ryanair Belfast to Liverpool total cost GBP3.96

mikehoche

These appear to be the prices they always charge?

TheCaptain

Just tried to book Newcastle to London (Gatwick) Price was £19.84 Each way = £39.68 But the airport taxes were £49.75 on top of this making it £89.43... Did'nt bother.,... will get a cheap train ticket instead... just wish they would show the prices with taxes rather than wasting your time... On second thoughts scrap the train, just got a similar flight on easyjet for £35.98 including all taxes.... over £50 cheaper than Flybe...

Voting cold is unfair - the sale fares include the taxes. If the sale fare isn't available then of course the price will be higher. However, remember their nickname - FlyMaybe. ;)

soweezy

Flybe are never really a deal, I get roughly the same prices every year whether there's a "deal" on or not fair is usually under £6 but the taxes always bump it up to around £32 each way (Cardiff - Newcastle) I only use them because they're convenient, no other airline flies Cardiff to Newcastle direct

anthonyf218

agree with above, been through a few destinations but the taxes really stuck the prices up too much :O(

DaveBee

voted cold....by the time you add taxes not such a good deal. ie 4 adults 1 child - Southampton Malaga return £60 per person each way + £200 in taxes. Easy jet Gatwick Malaga return with luggage etc £385 all in. Can't see me spending £400 on taxi from Southampton to Gatwick (or diesel and parking).....

Note; These are not " taxes ", part of this amount is, but most of it is a surcharge added by the airline.

So you really mean that the taxes are extortionate, not the flights. If the flight was a quid, the taxes would still be £54. This forum is trying to vie with MSE for wierdness.

wow these flights are extortionate when the taxes are added! eg flgihts Birmingham - Paris in mid-July Flights = £41 per person Taxes = £54 !!

polak

the amount of times i've flown with them and it's been delayed... they've got a reputation in southampton for being known as Fly-may-Be

cuteusmaximus

The thing that's most annoying about flybe (and a lot of the others, to be fair) is that they advertise some cheap rate and then pile on "charges." Just priced a flight from exeter to amsterdam - fare was £52, taxes £55. Then they charge you a debit(!) card fee. It's all bait and switch. Long live easyjet for including taxes and charges in their advertised prices.

No worries guys, just repaying the debt (already found loads of bargains). How do you build up green dots then?
