Cheap mower is cheap.

v nice! tempted

Plastic blades, say no more.

Pay a bit more for much better.

It could be false economy if it doesn't work well or last very long, meaning you have to dispose of it and buy another one.

The following is about double the price, but I'd say is far better and comes with a 2 year guarantee:

And it collects the grass for you

HEAT

I have the same one and just packed in after 5 yrs.

More than happy to get another one

Had one of these a few years ago. The plastic blades break off if you hit the smallest of stones, bumps or sticks. They also wear down fairly quickly and you sometimes have to replace both together to keep them balanced.

If you have a perfectly flat and clear lawn then you might be ok.

I need something that is light and quick to cut grass on a steep-ish garden slope 60ft long 20ft deep. Or would a strimmer be a better bet. Any advice. Thanks

Don't bother at any price. the motor is gutless and the plastic blades are useless.

You definitely need a hover Mower for a sloping garden. Considering the size of your garden you also really something more powerful with a greater cutting width , metal blade and possible grass collection. The downside to this is they cost more , and will generally be heavier mowers.
Different people have different views on makes of mowers, so it's individual choice, I would say something like this would be fine ,
the Flymo 330 that Homebase have at the moment would be ok, but it's £89.99.If you decide to buy from Homebase wait until the weekend as they usually have a 20% off event ( not confirmed) on a bank holiday weekend.

How steep is steep-ish? I doubt a hover mower is "needed", although it may help in rare circumstances.

Cheap mowers are a false economy in my opinion, I'd get a good petrol one and be done with.

Don't buy it. this wasn't powerful enough to cut my grass. Blades are rubbish and after a few goes the motor burnt out.
Went back and bought a proper one and it's still going 5 years later.

I had a similar question also since have a fairly large garden but un-even and slope ground. I have a flymo with metal blade and grass collector with wheels was £150 few years back but can barely cut grass that is few inches tall ! I think the tires actually prevent it from moving forward so it requires much man hands to get it going. And despite setting to lowest level the grass is still cut taller compared to a £40 flymo!

I hear the high end flymos £100-150 are equally as poor though, any recommendations ?

So much hate in here I have one and it cuts the grass, blades haven't broken and still works as good as I first got it.

if you have uneven or sloping ground Hover's are the way to go, whatever make personal preference . rotary mowers which you have now are suitable for flat even lawns. Everything depends on the cost you are willing to pay as to the quality and end finish of your cut/lawn.

any decent hovers around £100-150?

I hear the flymos £150 ones are still hard to move around on uneven and sloped surfaces and don't really hover much and require more pushing..... but not sure if true!

Makes you wonder how they ever managed to cut grass on slopes until the Flymo adverts came along

one of those mechanical ones which cut the grass via momentum as a kid

But how could it ever work without a cushion of air? LOL

When I was young I was that cushion of air

These people who complain that mowers are "heavy" and "hard to push" do make me laugh. How on earth do they get their Flymo in and out of the shed? Doesn't float so well once you pull the plug.

Still valid, good for me, thanks. :-)

annoyingly I need this mower now. i have a tiny lawn and lots of bits this mower easily slides straight over and around. I paid £37.80 after the code but 10% top cashback on opening an account (i'll pay off the balance once the account has been approved obviously).

they refused credit and didn't bother telling me. don't bother with this company
