Damn. I was watching this for about four weeks to see if they would drop the price when it was obviously an end of line item and not a penny did it drop.
In the end I went for the Ryobi version.
Got a good price for the Ryobi but nothing like £30.
If you have a bigger area to maintain and don't mind trailing a cord instead of having a noisy smelly unreliable peterol engine, a 1000w strimmer is the way to go. It cuts weeds and grass like a breeze and the only things that have fazed mine have been a length of rope and pampas grass - both of which snarled up the rotor.
Great tool - but not for the bloke that only needs to trim the edge of the lawn.

electric....no thanks...akin to cutting the lawn with a pair of scissors rather than a lawnmower

smelly unreliable petrol engine - unreliable? what? for the home and try the ryobi ones with battery start, pretty cheap too....electric ones are hopeless, cordless battery ones are even worse

lol , absolute rubbish , I've used both in our plant nursery and prefer the electric.

anyone got one of these????

tackling the toughest conditions? im calling lies, this thing isn't going to hack any serious work...probably alright for trimming your lawn edges and light garden work. Anything serious and you are going to have to go petrol.

I've just ordered one as I have a crap one at the moment. £30 sounds fair for a brand name + powerful strimmer.

As for powerful I have one rated at 350 watts and that does a pretty good job so this should knock the socks of what I have planned for it.

PS: how much wast it previously...

Old model but Coopers Direct still selling @ £84

fantastic, picked mine up today and just ragged the forest in the back garden, very powerful and 10 times better than the £9.99 efforts bought elsewhere
word of warning though, if you are not 6 foot 2 weighing 17 stone and have the shoulders of a cart horse, you probably wont even be able to pick it up, yet along wield it
