Picks up about 20% of what you cut. This isn’t a deal because the product isn’t quality. I took mine back for a refund. The motor kept smoking and the grass wasn’t long. Shocking, nothing I can say good about it. Put a few extra bob towards something better and more powerful. 1600watt is what you want, 900watt you might as well strap a butter knife to your electric toothbrush

Oh well.. Got one yesterday with my extra 20% off too.. If its no good it'll go back..👊
Never buy piece this junk, I bought this as a replacement for bosch Rotak but this totally useless. I had cut the grass and rack the remaining grass again - double the work. Not worth price and I am going return mine.
flymo build quality has gone downhill in recent years.
Bought one yesterday cut my grass fine had one similar before but has had its day got a 15ft x 12ft grass garden worked perfectly
Got this one from Wickes last year (for a bit cheaper as I recall) and it works just fine for our smallish lawn. Collects grass well until it gets too full - nothing like the experience of louiearch above. Maybe he got a duff one or he's just expecting too much of a cheap mower.

As did quality of most products that used to be high quality. We now get products with lower quality than back then but also get charged more.
I got an extra 10 % off with my wickes loyalty card so payed 36

You must have got a faulty one, mine works perfectly.

Sure, its probably not great for a huge lawn (or massively overgrown lawn), but its perfectly adequate for £40 on most lawns

We have this mower. Very lightweight and easy to manouver. No problems at all picking up the grass as long as you empty the box when it gets full.
These mowers are pure rubbish. They can't cut long or moist grass, the motor is so underpowered it overheats after a few minutes. It is made of the kind of soft plastic found in toys. They are not worth a 10th of the discount price, save your money and buy a decent one.

Is this diesel or hybrid?

Gonna invest in one although I don't have a lawn..

Company discount via Travis Perkins...
I admit that when I first tried mine I thought it was rubbish but after adjusting the height of the blades to the middle setting it now cuts my lawn just fine. The setting that it comes with is too low. I'd probably invest in a better one for larger lawns but these are decent enough for smaller lawns

MadHatter has it spot on. When I get back from hols and the grass is long I set the Flymo at its highest setting to cut the top of the long grass. Then a couple of days later use a cylinder mower to cut it a bit more and give me the stripes that I like.
For £40 some people are expecting a bit much!
I have heard that it's better to leave cut grass on the lawn as it help prevent sun damage?

Exactly, Some people want the moon on a stick, I got one of these, for my Mother, and its perfect for the job and her small lawn, it's no where near as good as my mower, but that cost £900 and requires a service every year. So hardly a valid comparison.

good job I read yours and others comments - I almost bought this!
I'm in two minds about this. Yes, it's new and is cheap. But I don't know if its good value. I know it's a different kettle of fish but I bought a nearly new Mountfield petrol self propelled mower for £50 yesterday. I think if you're looking to spend £40 on a mower (electric or petrol) you may be better looking for a quality second hand mower for the same price. You'll probably get more for money if you look around. Not voted either way.
They had these about 2 months back, clearance at just 20quid (think it was on here?). When checking only a couple Wickes nationwide had any! Nearest to me was 75 miles away, so didn't chance it.

Just bought a Spear & Jackson with free strimmer from Argos. It is BLOODY FANTASTIC!
It was on offer at 50 quid OFF! at just £69.00.
We had the last one in stock here.

Just looked and it's back up to £119.00!

If you want a leccy mower, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS! Keep your eyes peeled it's bound to reduce again. Although I suppose any S&J one will do if on offer or reduced, we had a S&J before and it lasted years. Had a flymo hover once, never again.

man thats cheap. this or cordless tho ? also my grass is all bloody clover any idea how to get rid of it anyone ?
I got the 1500watt version of this from Homebase, seems pretty good. Only paid £42
It's cheap and the quality is not great. I'll be buying another one within 6 months as the cutting blade giving us too much hassle on uneven surfaces (bend, not cutting etc). Further its not balanced especially towards heavy grass box when nearly full.

Agent Orange or Napalm.
This do a small space no probs (got one 3 years)
I bought this yesterday and it works perfectly for smaller lawns. With both front and rear wheels on the medium height setting it produces a good cut length and in my case the grass box collected everything. It does have a tendency to fall backwards when not in use due to the weight of the grassbox, but this is not an issue when actually mowing.
