Might be worth popping in see what they have cheap

If one of the employees is to be believed there will be a % reduction Thursday then a greater % reduction Friday and very large % reduction weekend. No guarantees this is correct but when I discovered them concealing the 'Closing Down' banners in the store in Woking this was what I was informed.

the sale is to last for 6 weeks, so there won't be great bargains to start with!

Where have you heard this? I cant see the administrators stringing this out for 6 weeks, paying all the costs associated in running the shops just to sell goods off at discounted prices.

I cant see them having staff for 6 weeks?

google...... best invention ever. so simple to use that all you need to type is focus diy edinburgh, and it magically gives you the answer. you should try it some time, it might surprise you what you can find out on it

OP didn't post which store he is talking about?

My local Swansea store had a closing down sale a few months ago after news of going into administration and has since already shut down some time ago. Another one in Wales started a closing down sale a few weeks ago.

might pop into local tomorrow but i doubt it will that cheap just yet, although they may be putting up display kitchens cheap etc

Just passed through mid-wales, and in Newtown, Powys, it's 10% off lawnmowers, 20% of paint/rollerblind type stuff, 30% off lighting and "door furniture". And that's it. Just makes the prices the same as other places now.

I came away with an empty trolley. I'd save your petrol until more stuff goes on offer - I was hoping for garden stuff, bathroom and kitchen etc, but nothing. And I did ask. Incidentally, there were 2, yes 2 other members of the public there at 9am.

It's always a shame when a business goes under, and it's bad for the staff, but if they need to clear stock, it's got to be at least 30% across the board, because they're already 30-50% more than Charlie's DIY round the corner which stocks the same stuff (except bathrooms!). For example, rollerblinds were £14 with 20% off, but a quick zap with Barcode Scanner showed the exact same blind at £9.99 in B&Q and Argos.

Lady at my local Focus gave me one of their lists of what discounts are applied to things today. There's very little in the way of changed price labels but she said the discounts are applied at the till universally.

This is what her list says:

10% off lawnmowers, planting and confectionary
25% off Bathroom & shower accessories, kitchen accessories, lighting and wall coverings (i.e wallpaper)
30% off bathroom suites, enclosures and bathroom furniture
50% off any remaining Christmas lines
and 20% off everything else in the store.
