The Odin-5 F3 is not perfect but seems to be a good start in FDM 3D Printing.
It's popular enough to have a bit of a community. The "FOKOOS Official User Group" Facebook group is the best place for assistance and best avenue for official and unofficial support.
You will want to replace the V-Wheels when you can. Mine was fine out of the box but I can see the wheels already starting to need cleaning after about 48 hours print time and will need replacing (cheap) in the medium term.
I've ordered an accessories kit from the amazon dot de (~£30 delivered) which contains more spares inc. ribbon cables, hot ends and wheels.
Will probably order a load more wheels separately anyway.
WD40 DRY PTFE lube (not normal WD40) is what I've seen recommended most of lubrication. It's £9 per can in person from Screwfix. Some say Super Lube.
Clean the bed with Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) before each print.
Plenty to upgrade and fiddle with, if and when you want to.
It works with Octoprint, it will take an BL Touch sensor with some fiddling, and has a cheap (~£10) WiFi upgrade available. There are alternative firmwares available (Kings being the most often mentioned), upgrades to cooling.
Most common hiccups I've seen to perfect prints (other than tighten/loosen/level/align/configure stuff) are bed needs the middle raising slightly (which Crazy Will Tech Show solved by just folding aluminium foil in the middle) and the V-Wheels replacing. I'll be doing both but the print quality has been good enough out-of-the-box that I've not done it yet.
There are profiles available for PrusaSlicer (supposedly, I've never tried) and for Cura (provided by the community). It comes with an skinned older version of Cura but I went straight to the latest from the website.
At £135 I'm very very tempted to buy another.
Got it for 125 a few months back
Only printed a couple of things on it, pretty decent especially for the price
Finally what 3d printers do you guys recommend and price range?
Ps this would be my first time buying one (if i do) (edited)
atm i do like the look of the sovol SV-06, linear rods, direct drive, bed probe, PEI bed sheet, silent step drivers. £220~
if you want something a bit smaller then id recommend the KINGROON KP3S, linear rails on x and y. direct drive, silent stepper driver. from £140. can always add on stuff like pei and bed probes
I started out with an original Ender 3. i wouldn't recommend creatily tbh, they are great if you want to mod them but they have fallen behind in terms of features at stock and their support is nothing special, mostly all community driven.
If anything, id avoid anything using V-rollers, especially on X and Y. should be at least linear rods/rails for those. as you can go much faster on acceleration and speed with these, on top of them being less maintenance and more precise. pretty much everyone ships with silent stepper drivers now. direct drive is usually better than bowden, PEI bed sheets are amazing, bed probes are very useful especially on larger beds.
if you want a project, look into a Voron. you can pick up kits for a V0.1 for ~£300 (printed parts +£60) or a Trident for about ~£700 (printed parts +£100) they aint cheap but these are some of the best printers you can build today (Vzbot/Ratrig/HevORT are a few others too) (edited)
Went mine back as no matter what I'd do it wouksnt print well (my ender 3 blew it out of the water)
On paper its great and it can print lovely but I sent my back after tinkering for ages.
I gave the deal heat but now I've bought a sovol sv 06 which looks insane for the money (edited)
Opinions, please. If they were both the same price, would buy this or and Ender v2?
Ender is more complex, bells n whistles, noisy and better build quality.
I’m sure there are comparisons on the net, and others on here that have both. You could do a fokoos search on here because it’s been on offer a few other times.
Even with the insight provided in the videos it has been a bit of a faff and not as straight forward as I would have liked.
That said, after threatening to hit it with a sledge hammer it did eventually start printing the test cube. About half way through it now.
I'm a little concerned that either the supplied micro sd card is a bit flaky or the card reader - though time will tell. Once this finishes printing I will see if I can perhaps do another one of their tests and/or have a go with cura and something off of thingyverse.
How are y'all getting on?
And if the printer has power recovery enabled then switch it off. All that does is constantly write to the card and cause stuttering in the print leading to poor prints.
Volcano nozzle
Direct drive
Dual z axis
Silent 32 bit motherboard
Touchscreen
All reasonably pricey upgrades on similar machines like the Ender 3
It's my first printer so I cant compare it to anything, and i like fiddling so these problems are not deal-breakers for me, but it's something to remember.
On the positive side it runs 100mm/s , accepts modded firmware, works brilliantly with bl touch and octoprint.
If you get it remember to remove film from under the glass on the heat bed. (edited)
GF, bless her, bought me the MALYAN MA10 for xmas at about £190, which had major bits missing, useless instruction because they change the components regularly, it being a hodge-podge whatever's cheap, an was generally awful. Had to return it and I've got the above waiting for me to collect, but might get this if its a lot better. (edited)
Shame as amazing spec for that 135price
On the downside, the resin is more expensive, it's toxic if not handled correctly and the build plates are usually smaller. Fumes aren't the problem I first thought of as I have my printer set up in a spare room.

I know I should tinker more but the initial software and profiles etc are just garbage. For such a fantastically idea of a machine the software side let's it down massively.
Also one of my wheels was free spinning on the gantry. And it's jot the one you can tighten
I wouldn't say my initial experience was smooth, but I haven't had any real issues since I got over the initial hurdle (supplied microsd card not reading).
The prints I have done so far have been very nice quality. I have been using the Ender 3 profile in Ultimaker cura.
