I have used this since 2007, and it is amazing, its a crowdsupported global WiFi hotspot network,
It works on a sharing basis, so if you agree to share some of your broadband at home with strangers, you are able to get some free wifi when you are out and about on return!
It creates a seperate public wifi network for guests, keeping your personal network completely seperate, and secure. With this Fon router you can even setup the bandwidth you want to share with your guests!! - from as little as 256kbps
This new version also works as a WiFi signal extender for those who have low wifi signal at home, you can use one of these to extend your wifi, and share a little wifi at the same time!
It has iOS and Android apps, to log you in automatically when you are around a Fon network,
According to their website, they have over 12 million wifi spots around the world!

Yup it will work with any ISP and will work with your current router (not replacing it)...
Not sure if it would be against any term of service or acceptable usage policy...
My device is now sharing from Portugal but I had this working with Virgin for a year and a half with no issues...
By buying this and running it through your own router (I'm on virgin) you immediately become a fon user.
Now you can log into anyone else doing the same as you.
Looking on the app map there are hundreds of people in my areas using which is perfect as her indoors works in an area with poor mobile reception but perfect fon.
Bt-fon and fon are completely different entities as missus has bt wifi with her EE account and it doesn't work with bt-fon.
