On Saturday, June 14, 2014, Hard Rock will celebrate its 43rd birthday by turning back the clock to June 14th 1971 and will offer guests the opportunity to sample the original 1971 menu at the original 1971 prices for one sacred hour.

In 1971, two music-loving Americans founded the first Hard Rock Cafe in an old Rolls Royce showroom in London, and an icon was born. More than four decades later, Hard Rock celebrates its birthday by thanking those who have queued through wine, rain, snow and sun around the world for the past 43 years and invites all to celebrate and enjoy the original menu on June 14th 2014 between 11am and 12 midday.

Between 11am - 12pm, guests can enjoy the HRC Burger for 50p, Roadhouse Ribs for 80p and the Original BLT for 60p. For dessert those lucky enough to dine in the first hour can enjoy ice cream for 25p and the original Sundae for 40p.

We will also be offering 1971 prices to anyone who shares our Birthday, 71 year olds and service men and women!

Join in the fun at Hard Rock Cafe Manchester, dig out your best 70's clobber and party with us!

Its like the 2 old men in a pub in Aberdeen which advertised beer at 1914 prices to commemerate WW1, and they were sitting in the corner drinking nothing and looking totally miserable. The manager went over and asked whats wrong and the said they were waiting for the Happy Hour

We went decimal in 1970 so 50p is still 50p

So its just for one hour?

It will be bedlam.

Damn!

Wouldnt want to be serving; 10% tip on a 50p burger .....

Anyone know why deals like this show up for me when I have turned off the show local listings tick box? I am in London and so deal is no good for me.

No, but that's not the point - old pennies didn't exist as currency in 1971.

Do you have to book?

So you'd be ok living on 1970 wages then big boy?

He did not mention living on a 1971 average pay... he just mentioned the year our currency turned decimal... and believe you me the transitional period was a nightmare dealing with two currencies, well I was born in the 80's so I cant really confirm this however I would imagine that to be the case.

Just one hour, pity.

I have always wanted to order everything from the menu, it would seem this is my opportunity!

Say what??

How can you comment on the transitional period? How can I believe you if you weren't even born? Hell, I'm probably older than you anyway kiddo!

Oh, and where did the "big boy" bit come from??

"thanking those who have queued through wine, rain, snow and sun" - errrrrrr queued through wine, we wish.

Is it only for those fitting the criteria? Those in the service, those celebrating their birthdays and those who are 71?

yes
it's not clear I reckon its 11-12 for everyone and the whole day who fit the criteria, in any case the place will be packed.

Also its not just Machester, London too and probably everywhere else:

Haha, considering this was posted in the early hours of the morning maybe wine was on the OP's mind?

Hope you don't mind me being nosy, but with a username like 'grammerpolice' I'm guessing the 'er' is deliberate?

Sounds good in principal but I'd rather pay full price than trying to get in and order this for that one hour..

No we didn't - it was February 1971 as it happens....

I'd go for dinner here, but it'd be full of Mancs.

I don't want to turn the clock back to the 70s. Jimmy Saville might be there...

Glasgow too.

I dunno. If they get 5p off everyone who goes in.....

....yeah, they'll be pi55ed off and still skint

EDINBURGH TOO!

How prices have risen!

50p for a burger n coke in 1971? impossible, probably more than the hourly wage,i paid 50p for a chinese sit down 3 course meal in 1979 almost a decade later.

i know this for a fact my father did 100 hours work for £100 in 1974,thats £1 per hour including double time, grade a skill worker,so he earned at best 40p per hour and that bought you a burger n coke....nonsense

How much is a burger and coke in HRC at today's prices? I'd guess it would be more than an hour's wage for a lot of people.

This is a very "upmarket", gimmicky, celebby, themed restaurant in the middle of LONDON in 1971 (it wasn't anywhere else) so obviously it would be a LOT more than a Wimpy burger.

I have never seen so many pointless and unhelpful comments to a thread of mine, thanks for that everyone!

We never went decimal in 1970 mate----- Was 1971!!!!!!
