Is it much different to 2018?

Completely different. Revolutionary changes.

I lie. It's basically the same as Championship Manager 01/02. That's not necessarily a bad thing.

After reading the review in Google play, all of the most valued reviews are saying the game is bugged since day one and its not worth the price. I love the FM and firstly the CM series, but even at this price, will it be worth it?

I'm considering buying this and I've not really played any of the others, but what happens say next season does this one stop updating players etc, or can you just carry on and it automatically updates??

It won't update. It will still be in your purchase library so you can still download it on to future devices. But no it won't update. Next year's will have updated transfers etc, and most likely be an incremental update like previous years, will very little difference in the game itself.

I've not bought this since about 2010 I think but considering this with some Play credit that's about to expire.

By the time we get to next season in the real world you'll be many season in on the game. The trick is they keep you buying every season or two so when you start a new game you get the new data (and a few new features).

There's a few good changes, it has training in it now and the colours on the skin are pretty good as well. Nothing overly different though. The thing that really annoys me about this game is you can't see the attributes on players when your doing a search to compare them, or highlight a bunch to scout. Makes the whole finding new players a hassle sometimes

Well worth it for 5.99 if you like football manager games. I find fm touch version too complex and time consuming. This gave me my fm fix at a level I can work with ~ the comment above about it being like the old championship manager games is spot on. Only gripe from here is that it’s a fairly easy game.
I've got some money that's expiring soon so I might go for it. Thanks for the feedback

Great - had some Play credit knocking around and bought it ahead of 11 hours on the train one of the days this week! Thanks, OP!
I bought this last year after I saw it on here and I hardly played it

It's an offline game so yes.

No, The 200 miles from Hull to London using Hull Trains who operate the only direct service between the two cities . It'll take 11 hours if you are lucky as train services are constantly cancelled at a drop of a hat. They have four diesel locomotives and late last year, all four were out of action so they cancelled an entire day of services. Third world service isn't the half of it but never mind, apparently we are part of the Northern Powerhouse, so no worries.

Just outside Cardiff to Bangor (North Wales rather than Northern Ireland) and back in a day for a meeting, leave at 7:35 and gets back at 10:22 - only there for 2 hours! Would be cheaper to fly to Anglesey but don't fancy risking the weather in a tiny plane and I've only just got a car this week that I've not got used to so I'll be passing the time by rolling back the years on 'Champy'.
