Great price but no new features announced still! Loved the franchise right …Great price but no new features announced still! Loved the franchise right up until about 2015; after that it seemed to get too detailed and fiddly. How was the 2018 version guys?

I tend to buy it every 5 years. Its worse than FIFA in how little things change each year. 01/02 or 03/04 were the most fun before it became a spreadsheet simulator.
Bought them all up to 2015 then gave it a miss, bought 2018 version but it's still shrink wrapped. It's not fun anymore, I enjoyed champ manager in the 90's. Jeez I'm old.

Fond memories of waiting for what seemed like an eternity for champ manager 93 to start a new game on the Amiga. For some reason I loved playing as Barnet and sticking an old codger, Nicky Evans I think it was, upfront. Found it hillarious at the time. I'm probably the same age as he was back then. I was an odd child.

97/98 was superb when I finally upgraded to a PC. Used to buy some none league defender for £5k who would turn in to the next Tony Adams. Pretty sure someone still updates it now.

FM Mobile is the best purchase you’ll make if like me, you loved the glory years of CM (97/98 - 01/02). Quick, accessible, fun.

Agreed. With the FIFA or Pes I buy one or the other every two years and then it's a bit fresher. Loved Champ Man in the early noughties.

I recommend the mobile version.. it's a stream-lined version of the game with no team talks, press conferences etc and you can get through a season in an hour or two.
Last years was the best version since 2012 in my opinion. It took loads of patches though so I’m going to wait until January even at this price and use pr0 update. It’s brilliant and brings new life into the game at this time of year.

It's a shame they've decided to stop bothering with the Linux version.
Bought, thanks OP

Same as every year. New bugs, old bugs, new features that don't work properly but have to pop up every couple of minutes to show they've done more than just update the database...
01/02 🙌
Going to give the switch version a purchase this year I think

How dare you describe Nicky as an old codger! If you had Carter as well you must have scored a ton!
Purchased, thanks OP. Code delivered pretty much instantly and activated on Steam (pending download on release) just fine.
HEAT. Brilliant find

03/04 was the peak for me, perfect game. Went downhill right after that. 00/01 and 01/02 were brilliant too.

I’m not sure when the last official update for it took the game data up to but there are unofficial database updates all the time. If you google fmscout and look in their addons->databases section you’ll find them. They’re very easy to install by copying a few files into a folder in your documents and settings and restarting a game. I don’t know where these guys get the time to create the updates but they are normally excellent.

You can download a database update, check out FMBase or FMScout, they'll have the downloadable databases there.
Anybody know when the mobile version comes out?
Good price - but as no linux Im not voting.

Pity as I've bought 2014....2018 for linux.

No Tux - No bucks.

Seriously? Ironic as Linustechtips just did a follow up video on Linux gaming! Lots of people aren’t happy with Windows 10 and don’t want to buy Mac so that was a nice alternative and football manager is often might be the only PC game a Linux user needs (might have a console too)

Get the update by pr0 from fmscout. It has instructions on how to use it and is updated until the last transfer window. The official update is only winter as they want you to buy this version!

I remember a 'glitch' in one of the mid 90's versions where the size of your stadium could influence big money signings. I managed to sign Alan Shearer on a free transfer with Queens Park because they played their home matches at Hampden Park. He scored ~70 goals in one season. I was so proud I used the 'print stats' feature to print a hard copy on my dot matrix printer!
