For Virgin Broadband Customers, free photo prints every month when you activate Online Backup & Storage

I just found this out today when I renewed my contract. When signing in to your Virgin Media account online ( virginmedia.com/ click My Virgin Media top right), under "My apps" there is the option of "Backup and Storage".

When you sign up for it you get free online storage, depending on your account (5GB for L broadband, 10GB for XL, unlimited for more expensive packages).

You also get free prints through Snapfish: 100 prints per month for XXL or 100, 50 per month for the XL package and 10 prints each month for the L package (probably not worth it, given that you have to pay the delivery).

You pay £1.00 for up to 99 prints for delivery, and £1.50 for 100 prints or more.

Note: If you already have an account with Snapfish that uses the same email as the one you use for your Virgin Media account, you have to ask them (Snapfish) to cancel it). Also, the free prints last for 12 months from the day you sign up for Backup and Storage.

Assuming majority will be on L (10mb) £1 delivery for 10 prints... and you wait 10 months to get 100 prints!

Just go to Aldi (100 prints for £1.33), or one of the MANY retailers offering better value (pay for postage but much higher number of free prints):

[Hot for those on XL (if you can rollover the prints) or XXL]

Well if you assume that everybody is on L then it's not a good deal.

Note that this is every month for 12 months, so if you're on the right package, then I think this is pretty good.

For me, it's 50 prints per month for £1, I can't complain really.

Obviously, the offer is only for Virgin customers on XL and above packages, not for everybody.

Just a question: Do you have previous experience with this? Why do you say you wait 10 months for the prints?

thanks for posting , ill make good use of that
How bloated is the software that you have to install to get this?

Nice and toasty!!!

It's simple. I'm on L so qualify for only 10 free prints a month. If i wanted 100 free prints, i'd have to wait for 10 months for it and pay 10 x £1 for delivery so it will cost me £10.

Whereas there are 100 free prints available to me immediately elsewhere for just £1.33

Check their terms:

Free prints must be used within the month, and can't be carried over

btw, i've added heat for bringing it to attention of people that missed it when they signed up.

OK, I didn't read your post right the first time. In any case, this deal is obviously not for you, but there's a number of other people that could benefit, on XL packages and above.
This has been available for a while in a similar form but I had a terrible experience with the whole affair a year or so ago. Out of the 12 months of the 100 prints I was allocated each month, I was able to successfully order prints only once and that was for 50 prints. At the time there were loads of issues VM were blaming Snapfish and vice versa but fingers crossed thats all resolved now. Its a good offer if it works...

what's the print quality like?
Prob only good if you've got the XL package or higher but H+ for making Virgin customers aware so they can actually take advantage.
Its not a deal.

I tried using this over a year ago. Its not a deal as its part of your package etc. Was a nightmare to set up. Bit like saying you bought a new shirt and you get a pocket as extra.
for me, it was really straightforward to setup... although sending the files from the backup and storage account to snapfish so they could get printed was really slow
I had this when I was on 20mb broadband from Virgin - but you only get it for the first 12 months. Anyway I upgraded to 50mb and so renewed my contract but i never got it renewed for the free photos! Should I complain you think?
I think you have the biggest bargaining power when you're upgrading, they don't really want to know afterwards...

it doesn't hurt to complain tho... ask them for the free spotify account too, if you don't have one

The software is small but the performance is unbelievably slow. It's like it's on dial-up. My mate that works for Virgin even laughs at how poor it is.
The software for this is woeful. It keeps popping up on your desktop & there is no way to turn the popup off. The photos take forever to upload. It's just not worth the bother.
Teh software was what was putting me off - i have known about this for 18months - but guessed it would irritate me! the standard software pop up irritated me - although worked out how to turn them off. then when i swapped computers - i just didnt install the virgin add on - and it works fine!

Always man.
You don't need to install the software you can just use the website. It's not too slow and the prints are by snapfish so good quality. The postage is only 99p for 100 so the cheapest I have ever seen prints. It has worked for me passed 12 months .

Not really a deal though been around for over a year!
This has been out for yonks at least 3 years
50 free prints and free collection from selected stores. Check that you can collect from your store before ordering. Linky winky:

Cheers karlie88 i have virgin with all the channels and 50mb, but i will use your tesco link if i need pics, as others have said it's to slow so cold from me.
Good to know. Thanks, OP.

Hi,

How do you print photos without using the software? I've heard plenty of bad things about the software, which has put me off using it as well, but would like to take advantage of free pics?

thanks...
Might not be a deal in the technical sense but it's obviously pleasing a bunch of people that weren't aware of it. I think it skirts close enough to the kind of thing we all come to this site for to be considered worthwhile and voteupable.

Thanks OP. I think I'd only logged into the Virgin site once in the year or so I've been using them. Time to go take another look I think.
nice find, if its been going on for years I dont really care, I am just glad youve made me aware of it..

have some heat
thanks

You can get 100 to your door for 99p that's probs less than the petrol or bus to Tesco, and can do it every month without scamming Tesco. Also the web upload tool is as quick as any other I've used and the service is snapfish so quick and good quality.

virginmedia.com/ click my virgin media at top, click login and login with the master virgin email address (the one to view your bill) click backup and storage (under my apps) , at the storage overview click go to my photos. Then you're basically on snapfish!
