Seems an excellent price for this sci-fi classic.

"Ahead of its time in many, many ways, Forbidden Planet has been cemented in its role as a science fiction classic over the past few decades, to the point where its 50th birthday is being marked with this special DVD release".

Frankly, if you're a sci-fi buff and you don't have this already you are mad.

Of course, you'll also be wanting 'This Island Earth', 'The Day the Earth Stood Still' and 'When Worlds Collide'.

every one a winner

Got two copies of TDTESS I like it that much. WWC just got recently, TIE is one of my favourites but been on such a buying spree recently can't afford it.

Desperate to get a copy of 'The day the earth caught fire', and 'Invasion Of The Body Snatchers' but I'm getting really picky about transfers. Was going to buy this (amazon.co.uk/exe…***) until I heard bad things about the transfers on the set.

top marks

Top, Top Film, Have some heat.

Great find, thanks - H&R coming your way, and a DVD coming my way...
All time favourite "early" sci-fi film, way ahead of its time.
Also features a young Leslie Nielsen. Seriously.
...and Robbie the robot, who also started his career in this film (I remember as a kid seeing him facing off to "The Robot" in Lost in Space in some episode...)

cheers
J

I really love this film but with such a backlog of stuff to watch already I can wait for a blu-ray at the moment. Voted hot though.

not sure if a film of this age would have any benefit on being on blu-ray over DVD but thanks for voting hot.

Of course it would. Practically anything shot on proper film, as opposed to video tape, would look better with a proper HD transfer compared to DVD. They already have released this on HD-DVD so have a HD master for that, it's just a matter of authoring the blu-ray and they will be good to go.

I shall look forward to that then

Arrived this morning.
