Sadly I am after a 5dr so no good for me but seems like a great deal for those who only need 3 doors. There are other deals with higher mileage and or larger deposits as well if anyone is interested.

Your sums are wrong. It's £3561.84 all in.

Not that cheap given you can get it slightly cheaper elsewhere.
Do not confuse this with the ST.

I hope that is a sarcastic comment? If VWG is guilty then every other manufacturer with approximately the same size engines, power outputs and official emissions must be guilty of something similar. One engine simply cannot churn out 40 times as much NOx as another engine the same size.

There's no IF about the Germans. There is evidence to prove it, and they've even admitted it.

What evidence do you have against "every other manufacturer ". Or is that just a libellous comment on your part?

Thanks, but I think you left off the processing fee of £300 which makes it £3900, which is still not bad I guess.

Yes, I work for that massive, well known Ford factory here in Evesham

You obviously don't work for Ford or any other engine manufacturer with your scant knowledge of automotive engine design.

I couldn't care less if manufacturers read my opinion. Did you actually read what I initially wrote?

Besides, a study conducted by ICCT and ADAC showed the biggest deviations from Volvo, Renault, Jeep, Hyundai, Citroën and Fiat. They just haven't been "punished" to the same extent...yet.

The whole thing has been over dramatised, especially by the likes of EveshamLad who is clearly a Ford fanboy. Sure, it is unforgivable that the CEO of VW/Audi Group could have had a climate of fear to exist within the organisation that could lead to this cost-saving shortcut. But, he cannot expect anyone to believe that he knew nothing about it.

However, contrary to what EveshamLad believes or thinks, the cheat itself was not very serious. It simply meant that the vehicle ECU recognised that the car was not being steered, and in that situation altered the parameters of the engine to reduce NOx emissions to a level below that when the car is being driven normally. So, in traffic, driving slowly in a straight line, NOx would be reduced as it is for the tests and pedestrians on pavements in cities would not actually suffer from inhaling too much of the stuff.

Think it was a bit more than that - Had to be a certain RPM range and the steering couldn't be touched at all. Its very unlikely that you would ever be able to recreate the test mode on public roads.
VW accidentally had a good idea, they could've used the "test mode" for low RPM urban driving to cut down on emissions - but they went about it in the wrong way.

Which is the same as not being steered...

Correct, assembled by the Turks, the Italians, etc. but not many Germans.

Remember the engines are mainly sourced from Dagenham or Bridgend.

You need to go to Wolfsburg to locate the cheats (but then I'm sure you knew that anyway)

Google is not the answer to everything, my dear friend. Take it from me, Ford Valencia plant ceased assembly of the Fiesta in 2012.

And even when they were producing them, the German plant still assembled the majority of Fiestas for the UK market

I've no idea. Who would want to buy one of those horrible dirty & toxic things from those lying, cheating Germans anyway???
(Btw, have you seen just how much a German automotive worker earns? Why do you think all the Turks, Italians, etc flocked to the industry there?)

Still, the Americans obviously saw the value in building a massive plant here ... allegedly

Many people want to buy a VAG. If anything this is a benefit to the consumer in the long-run: it will steer VAG away from diesel altogether er to concentrate on petrol/petrol-hybrid like Toyota have done for the past 15 years.
