If this deal‘s for real and you like orange, it looks amazing. Okay, the additional tweaks (primarily wheels and more sophisticated suspension) are never worth £3,325 over the ST3 3dr+performance pack, but a £6,224 saving on list obliterates that concern.

Sadly I‘m not in the market for one quite yet, so haven‘t wasted the vendor‘s time with an enquiry, but would be very interested if anyone buys one with this saving?

It's fine to have an opinion even a bad one.

It's a 1.5 and totally new engine so stop chatting rubbish. The 1.6 in the old ST bar the recall for the coolant tank is bomb proof. People running well over 300bhp on standard internals on them.

This new 1.5 goes over 250bhp with just a remap.

Anyways the deal. Cant see this being legit. Too rare and no discounts available for someone to bang one out at 7k under list.

£19,574 & not even a spare piece of wheel rubber included.

Sheesh.

"...but would be very interested if anyone buys one with this saving?"

What is in question here? Whether the saving is available, or whether you would be interested if the saving is not?

Confused.
Good deal and they sound good for a 3 cylinder
Fantastic deal for a better spec car than the one that was voted Top Gears car of the Year last year, Just a shame they are only available as a 3 Door. Voted hot
Awesome car love it
doubt it's valid, they don't even have a proper picture on site plus Ford just offered to sell 600 of them in the UK

Thank you, I've a Fabia derv VRs to replace, this night just do it
I would be surprised if it was legit because they are a limited edition and Ford usually have little difficulty shifting such cars, not discounting them like nearly every other model they sell.

If you get one for this it's a bargain. Best version of the best small hot hatch on sale. It'll probably resist depreciation better than a standard one as well, if you want a Fiesta ST then this is the most desirable. Can't lose.

Make sure you bolt on the warrantied Mountune engine upgrade with the money you saved. Turns the car into a superstar.

The original Fiesta ST was a limited edition of 1500 cars. It was so popular they went on to make many more. I had one, loved it.

Just 600 of this Performance Edition car will be made. So they can't be selling that well, to warrant them being sold by this broker, instead of Main Dealers, at such a discounted price. Is this a reflection of the current UK car market. Or should car prices drop to a more realist price. So that this prevalence for leasing, becomes less attractive.

They are saying it's not worth the extra money for the higher spec ST I think.

I drove an ST 2 Fiesta a couple of weeks ago and it's a nice little pocket rocket. Clutch was nice and snappy, decent brakes, and picks up pretty damn fast. Honestly considering one as my next car for the fun drive it gives, but will probably end up going for a more sensible car lol

What! even for the exclusivity of the Special Edition, along with the extra kit you get (Quaff LSD, wheels, handling pack etc). Surely this model's residuals should be better

I know. This is a good price for this. But you can get a Fiesta for half the price and it'll still get you from A to B. Just a bit slower and without the vrrooom noises.

Some of the greatest cars of all time are Fords, and especially a host of hot hatches.

You'll need another £15k for something new that is a little more capable, like a Type R.

It's a fantastic car. Ford haven't built a bad hot hatch in a very long time. They aren't Vauxhall....

How did I misbehave?

This car is for enthusiasts...If I was a "boy racer", wouldn't I have one already?

It's actually the aesthetics that put me off before, and still now. I prefer an understated car with a nicer trim than racing seats and spoilers, but damn it gave a lot of performance for the money imo.

Chatting rubbish.. really? Fact, check out the ecoboom FB page, evidence right there.

Ours spun a bearing, probably because of oil supply failure. Ford diag, they didn't even check the oil pump, gallery's etc.

When your worked on the McLaren SLR, let me know!
Decent hot hatch but sadly I'm over 21 so not really suitable.

Shame a proper hot hatch is only available in a 3 door? Rigghhhtttt. Absolutely the right decision to only make this in 3 door guise. Beautiful car. Would have looked crap as a 5 door.

ST2 and went right to the Executive Office. Currently with Ombudsman.

Personally, I'd never touch a Ford again. Ever.

Being over 21 means you can probably afford the insurance premium

DodgeySolenoid31/08/2019 20:59

But it's a Ford 😵😵😵😁

My first car was a Ford (Escort) & I swore I'd never have another when I got rid of it.

Times, my viewpoint, & needs changed, & since then I've had two US Ford vehicles (Econoline E150 5.8 V8 & Expedition 4.6 V8 Triton) & another UK model (1997 Escort). The latter of which a relatively new driver wrecked beyond economical repair when they failed to stop & slammed into the rear while my car was stationary.

Presently I have one of the last of the 2005-2008 Mark V (148bhp 1999cc Duratec 20 OHC) ST production line models.

Both front seats no longer tilt forward to allow access to the rear, the ceiling-mounted jacket hooks in the rear failed to remain in the ceiling almost as soon as I took ownership, & the anchor for the left side of the driver's sun visor has suffered the same problem within the last year.

Other than that it still gets me from A to B in comfort, is relatively economical, & has always sailed through each MOT without needing any work.

I have been more pleased with it than I thought would have been the case, but I'm not sure buying a new model for almost £20k is a wise investment in the current climate especially when it is in a colour that may prove hard to re-sell.

Mine was £5,000 with three previous owners when it was 6-7 years old. That was a depreciation of almost £10,000 from when it was new.

However, I wish I'd kept my first Escort as I now appreciate what a great car that was specifically if I wanted to buy one again today...

Not bad for a hairdressers car
Good luck dealing with Ford if you have any issues....awful customer service.

I can understand preferring one over the other, but I don't get how some people are so against 5 door.

The main differences is an extra handle on each side, which to me, doesn't change the aesthetic enough to make a nice car look crap. Also the driver and passenger doors on a 5 door are smaller than a 3 meaning they can be opened further in tight spaces to aid getting out and have less surface area to get caught by wind. You've also got the practicality of not having to get out of the car every time someone is getting in the back seat (frequency obviously varies per person). And as fanpages has shown, the mechanism for moving the seats forward is prone to breaking (I've never known it in a Ford but I've seen Peugeot, Nissan, Audi and other manufacturers with broken mechanisms)
An advantage of a 3 door is different visibility when checking blind spot due to different door pillar position, and usually better but not always.
If you never have >2 passengers then I can understand 3 doors being the preferred choice but otherwise it seems illogical to choose 3 over 5 when the only "disadvantage" is a slight visual difference (that you hardly see when driving).

The reason you wish you had kept your first Escort, is purely from an emotional & financial perspective. As these early sports model Escorts (even some non sports models), have something of a cult following (something to do with mid life crisis and try to re-live their youth) and, have had their value rise to stupid levels. Anyway with the up coming, elimination of the internal combustion engine, the premiums on these cars will soon be wiped off, if not of no value at all (straight to the crusher with them).
