Ford Focus ST 2 £19300 @ drivethedeal

Found 2nd Mar 2014
I've just got a great deal from drivethedeal on a brand new Ford Focus ST2. It includes metallic paint, style pack and privacy glass.

When taken on Ford PCP the retail price works out as £19300 (not including interest). This is compared to the list price of £24495.

The finance I've arranged is for £3500 deposit, x £24 instalments of £209. I forget the exact settlement figure but its around £12000

This makes it one of the best value 5 door new hot hatches on the market.

Please include the following cost information.

Initial deposit including any arrangement fees.
    Monthly payment
    Length of PCP contract
    Final Settlement figure.

Thanks for editing in that information. Calculating out the numbers you have given gives a total to pay of £8516 over 2 years.
Then add £12000 if you want to keep the the car after 2 years = £20516.

You can expect to lose £7500 in depreciation over those 2 years, so that makes this a good deal according to the figures you have given if a buyer wants a new ST-2.

Thanks, the mobile app is not at all easy to use, I've updated and included a picture now.
My fiat 500 Abarth is much more stylish than these, and less common.

    Couldn't agree more.
This is the out going model isnt it. There will be better deals when they announce the face lifted focus release dates? This is still a good deal for you.
New focus to be shown at Geneva motoshow too!

Be nice if you gave examples.. I wouldn't have this car because it simply doesn't fit my circumstance or age range That said I probably would think a long time before committing to spend 20k on any car. Good luck to the OP if he has found this and its what he wants and enjoy it!
I pay £20 a year road tax on my little c1, it isn't great but does the job! I can't justify a jump to £280 a year.

There are only two hot hatches I could find with five doors for reasonable money. It was this or the Nismo Juke. This was a far more enjoyable ride around town and whilst I appreciate the depreciation isn't great, your talking ten grand more for a Golf or Megane!

Well said. Best selling hot-hatch in Europe and OP has found a good deal on one.
If somebody wants a new quick car (0-60 6.5s) that has reasonable servicing costs and can return 40mpg then the ST-2 makes a good case for itself, it's well reviewed. A buyer of one of these can go to Ford dealer and try and get discount, and this deal found by OP will give them some ammo.

Hot hatches are not my choice of car, and I wouldn't want one but I can appreciate what OP has found.

But, Dacia Sandero is cheaper so I suppose some will have to vote cold.

The abarth is an appalling car. Not to say this is a good deal either. Aesthetically, I preferred the older model ST.

Just bought the missus a fiesta 1.0 ecoboost. Fantastic car if you're ever in the mind for a change, zero road tax too!
    Good find.
If you enjoy driving why would anyone drive anything else, Fiesta Focus and Mondeo all rated best driving cars in their class.
Superb comfort and good looking interiors, more toys than most.

Completely agree. You're getting a lot of well received car - performance and practicality for the money. I too would love to see some 'better' cars with comparable specs for this price

As this is primarily a deals website. I will take that comment.
But for style, speed, economics and the thought of having one NOT parked on every street corner. ST = COLD
I own the new Fiesta st-2 and it's a nice fun car but I never paid anything like the rrp and I would have to think hard about paying almost 20k but if you can afford it go for it you will enjoy driving the car.

Looks like you've researched this very seriously.
For a brand new hot hatch this is a deal but I just could never bring myself to buy one brand new. Currently have a Mazda 3 MPS with mk2 body which I bought when it was 2 years old with 20k on the clock for a heck of alot less than this. The first 2 years depreciation on hot hatches is mad. Personally prefer the MPS, apart from slightly more torque steer if pushing the limits I think the MPS is just a nicer car all round.
Be wary of potentially dangerous steering rack problems. A workmate of mine had 2 new steering racks fitted before rejecting the car. He said that apparently it's a common problem.

The settlement fee isn't of any importance if you have no desire to buy the car at the end of the agreement.

practicality will change depending on a users need and can also be described as being fit for purpose.

If you need the space then that is the only reason this MIGHT be a good deal. As I do not know the normal asking price for these I cant comment on that.

Will I can say is that I use my Abarth for deliveries and there is a surprising amount of space in the boot. And it is possible to rackmount Bikes also.
And as the Abarths are extremely light, there are Performance gains without comprimising (too much) on how economic the car is.

I would take no offense about my car anyway.
Its the best car I have owned. Its fit for my purpose. And overall, its great fun to drive.

I'm gonna stop now before people start considering buying an Abarth.

If you look at expected depreciation, a good settlement fee at the end could leave you with equity in the car.
In other words, if the settlement is £12K and the car is worth £13K then you are £1K quids in.

If the depreciation means the car is worth less than the settlement then you will probably walk away and let the financer lose out.

What I'm saying is, a good number on the settlement compared to the expected depreciation can make it a better deal.

    - even if I have no desire to keep the car, if it is worth more than the settlement then I have an option to sell it for it's value, pay the settlement and keep the difference.

Or I could just give it back and let the finance company benefit.

    ...Yes the Fiat group.
Of which Ferrari is also a part of.
As well as Alfa Romeo, Lancia and Maserati.
So consider that the technology and design experience sifts through to Fiat cars
