Apart from taking £99 out of your pocket, what exactly do they do?
"From"...any idea what cars are £99?
Depends what you get in a "value" service.

Would hate to think they open the bonnet say "yep there is the engine" and close it again handing you the keys back!

Voted hot anyways! Thanks op.
not bad
Good deal - been running for ages but still hot.

Let me save you the energy of going all the way to the link!

ford.co.uk/Own…ice
any idea for how long will they keep this price?
Don't bother.

You will find out that they haven't bothered to replace essentials such as an air filter!
It looks like they just check and don't replace anything.

Doesn't even look like they change the oil.

This comes up everytime this deal is posted, and yes they do change the oil and oil filter, but not the air filter, you can ask them to do it as i did last time extra charge was for the part only ~£8.

And they dont change the pollen filter either but that is a two year service item anyway so if you're inbeltween years its ideal.

And its £129 for engine sizes > 2.0 litre

Just be careful if you have to be recovered you have to take it to a Ford garage for repair and they aint the cheapest of places !
I wouldnt want a Ford bloke touching my Honda with a barge poll.Us Honda owners are very particular.
Poor value. You can get roadside cover for less than £20 after cashback. This is just an under the bonnet check and replacing parts that cost less than £20.
Only useful for the total car novice.
Cheap way to keep up full dealer service history and retain some residual value in your car as the service book will have the correct stamp (which basically all we want here) add in some basic roadside recovery (although if you gets RAC or AA via quidco onyl costs about £7 - £10 I think) and its a bargain.

Not so clever if you value your car. if all they do is look at things that need replacing then its a fools economy.
its just to get you through the door ,then they start to try and upsell other things to you like you need pads and discs
Do not use ford last year I had this so called value service, it cost me £129 not the cheaper. I didn't get the roadside assistance and they didn't even give me a breakdown of what my tyre breakpad was when I complained h argument was that it's difficult times and they can no longer offer this deal. They also make up repair work as they go along! I asked them to replace one lock in wheel nut with a standard one they removed them all and replaced with standards and kept the lock in nuts, I had to have a new alloy put in because in their opinion it was bent didn't quite agree but had it changed and they wouldn't let me keep the existing wheel probably due to its metal resale value and incase I asked some if it was bent. My car was under warranty and the air con had gone, and they said it was leaking fluid, as I told them it was under warranty off you go and later I get a call about something else and suddenly the air con is now fine(this stopped working month after its repair and was subsequently out of warranty)

All in all i would never use ford again(for services and mot)

Be cautious with Ford. CMAX diesel rear noise advised two whell bearings £450 and £150 service charge. used the local quick fit centre (ours it good with good mechanics) did oil chang with ford xe something oil £34 complete and put an air filter in too!!!. Problem with noise warper rear disk would do both rear disks & pads fitted (includes reset of electric handbrake) £170 - very pleased.

It does depend a lot on which ford garage you go to. It's like any chain, some branches are good others are bad.ive not had any problems at Evans halshaw Newport road Cardiff but heard of people having problems at fordthorne penarth road.
You even get a wash n vac at Evans halshaw aswell. I'd sooner pay £99 there than take my chances at halfords auto centre or mot at kwik fit!
Good value, Been there Twice now. Just ignore anything they try to add on like new bulbs for £30 lol. Breakdown cover is great as it's European cover not just your basic £7 AA. There is an admin fee of around £20 though.
Can't really fault it as it keeps the warranty guys happy and your service history plus of course euro breakdown cover.
If you have a high miles be aware there is a 100.00 cut off.

Ford Assistance: means Ford Assistance (for new and authorised used vehicles
from the point of sale) or Ford Assistance 12 (service-activated
roadside assistance for eligible vehicles up to 9 years old or
100,000 miles)

Quick Fit did an oil and air filter change for £34 all in, inc VAT and Labour.
It says £35 on their website but doesn't mention VAT and Labour.
I've done this for the last 5 years (the one for £129 including MOT) And I've NEVER had a problem with Ford. Always good service, reliable and yes they do change your oil and filter!!...they also do checks and advise you of any work that might need doing...you don't HAVE to get it done, its just an advisory....if you want you can take it somewhere cheaper to get that work done.

All in all this is a good deal.

Also don't forget you get Nectar points at Ford , so that's a nice extra bonus.

That's been my experience too - excellent deal.
I own a Garage, one of my customers when for one of these value services, she called me up when the bill went from £99 to £850. She asked my opinion, I told her to pull the car out. Brought it to me and left with a £250 bill instead.

Generally Oil and a Filter would typically cost around £40+vat just for parts.Labour rates are high, so they have to make their money somewhere. I do an Interim Service for £79 inc VAT which is literally making no money on the job. So I fail to see how they can do this without ripping people off.

Cold from me im afraid.

They make their money - they are a national company not a little garage so buy the parts for next to nothing as they have buying power, their mechanics are probably paid weekly/monthly not hourly so may as well have them doing something than nothing and bringing some money in.
COLD COLD COLD COLD COLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dont think i could say that any stronger... Allow me to explain.

I had a 55 Plate focus 1.6, which was due its 3 year service and MOT. Ford were doing a very similair promotion - Value service and MOT for £99, so I took it to polar Ford in Huddersfield.
They had it all day, then phoned me at about 4:30 in the afternoon saying it had failed the MOT. Puzzled, I asked what it had failed on, as the car seemed perfectly fine and I had done a pre-check prior to taking it in.

Apparantly, it had failed on a tyre being illegal, a buckled wheel, blubs being incorrect colour, CV boot leaking, handbrake too slack, headlight aim wrong. Ok i asked, so how much will all this cost? Now i cant remember the exact cost but it was aproaching the £1200 mark. For a 3 year old car with average mileage costing so much, i diddnt trust the dealers at all, so took it to a local Ford specialist garage and showed them the certificate and he said straight away "I can tell you now they have made three quarters of that up" and he did a full MOT on it and the headlight beam was out slightly, but the tyre and wheel were LEGAL, the bulb colours were within legal spec, handbrake was fine, and the CV boot aparantly had had a screwdriver put through it (it was perfectly rectangular the hole). The total cost was £85 including a new CV boot.

My mondeo will not be going to a Ford Dealer, especially not that one!
I see its only for cars over three years old. They have extortionate prices for servicing when your Ford car is still under warranty, because many people dont realise that you can take your car anywhere for servicing and still keep your warranty. Main dealers wont tell you this.
I've used Autofit for years...... £40 for oil service.... or £99 for a major service with a free MOT. Slightly dearer if your car is over 1800cc or you want fully synth oil.

Sounds about right, forgot to mention they tried to charge for a Full service (it had had it done early at 2 years.) Then had a rather heated argument with the woman on the service desk explaining how unhappy i was at being overcharged and not believing the MOT Falure Certificate.

Yep, they'll check your car over for £99 - then hand you a list of necessary extras for £500 ! AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Find yourself a good trusted independent garage who will give you a fair assessment of what is required and a fair price rather than these "get them through the door" offers from the main stealers!

After cashback - yeah wait three months for it with the possibility of getting it turned down. People don't have the money to spend in the first place - find a service with filter, oil change etc.. with European breakdown cover for less than this. This will give you a bit of peace of mind in winter knowing your car will be running better and you have breakdown cover.

If any work is needed, it’s carried out using Ford quality parts, as they guarantee your vehicle will perform to its optimum level. As for our workmanship, we have it independently checked by the RAC, to help us maintain the very highest standards.

The hilighted bit says it all .

My local Fraud dealer tried to bill me £800+ for 3 bolts worth of work recently , that is all that was required , trading standards are currently pursuing the matter .

Servicing costs from a main dealer are always negotiable anyway.
I'm on my second new Ford in 5 years. The dealer knows i wont pay their extortionate servicing costs, so they always call me and offer me a reduced service price, and i'm sure could even haggle the costs down further if i really wanted a main dealer stamp in my service book.
But Autofit are still cheaper and i've always been happy with the work.
Unless you REALLY need a dealer stamp then your much better off finding a decent local independent garage. I've been using the same local garage for about 8 years now and had exceptional service all the time - far better than the one time I had to go to the Ford garage.
