Is it defo 99,on the link it says FROM ?

I know they probably won't fit any parts and you will get the inevitable phone call 'sorry mate, your brakes are shot, but we can replace them for you' speil, but just to get the histoy stamp and roadside recovery for a year makes this a pretty good deal in my books.

Looks like they don't actually replace anything, just check it. Good service!

value service = mini service ie plugs + oil+fliter change and nothing more

I was reading this yesterday. Ended up getting a full service for £105 from a local mechanic.

@Foxy102
I'd have agreed with you first comment. You need wipers, this or that and costs a fortune because its full wack Ford parts. So it ends up costing more. Thinking I'll give this a pass. Not voted either way...

Paid £150 for a service on my Mondeo a few months back. Handed back with coolant level below minimum and front tyres marked down with 6mm tread when in fact only 2mm left on them. Haven't used a main dealer since.

Worth noting that this is for cars over 3 years old only. Newer cars can't have the value service and retain their warranty.

I booked this and they charged me nearly 20 quid extra to adjust the light in the front lamp. I also had this week pillar trims put on because mine flew off on the motorway. Apparent 03 fusions are renowned for it and the trims cost 33 quid (two) and to fit the bill came to 79 quid!!!! But I refused to pay as they should have ordered and fitted during service and they didnt. so I paid for the trims...

look at what the service consists of....check this, check that, probably by apprentices. If they have to change anything (and you can be damnn sure they will find something), it will cost a fortune. Save yourselves money, have aproper service by a local garage, they can stamp your service book. Voted as freezing cold as the weather unfortunately.

So for 20 mins checking they charge £297/hour.

By crikey that's a red hot deal - for THEM!

Polar ford in wakefield are a disgrace don't venture at any cost

You bunch of moaning minnies, you are much more likely to be ripped off by a 'local' garage than a main dealer because they will have certain standards to meet otherwise they will eventually lose the franchise. Theres nothing wrong with over-selling either in my book. What you fools fail to remember is that without profit a company cannot operate and its no different for a main dealer despite the myth that main dealers are 'rolling in cash'. Far from the truth im afraid.

£99 for a service plus roadside for a year is excellent value especially at a main dealer.

Get a Haynes and do it yourself, at least you'll know the work's been done then! Check your fluids and tyres weekly, especially in this weather, to minimise the chance of any costly emergencies.

Any good garage can service your car and still maintain the manufacturers warranty, as long as they fit equivalent to original equipment parts.

I had a value service a few years back. Waste of money for what is basically an oil and filter change. And the safety checks are a waste of time. I don't need some numpty to tell me that my headlights and seatbelts works.
And they treat you like something they've just trod in.

Although I love Ford cars, would never use my local main dealer again.

I had a big falling out with vospers in exeter...ford dealers...very poor customer service and could actually finish what i paid for. Avoid like the plague...

And i now use a back street garage where the owner is always honest and is cheaper too!

You dont even have to use main dealers to keep your warranty valid as long as you use geniune parts

Hi I am a factory trained ford mechanic & what I do for my customers is £40 oil & filter change
& then spend 60-90 minutes on a fulll annual check booked up to Jan 2011 though

After my 'local garage' advised me that the problem with my instrument cluster can only be put right by a Ford Main Dealer, I got into their trap. They were supposed to replace it for a fixed fee of £99 (because this was due to a manufacturing problem), but they misdiagnosed it as faulty speed sensor and ripped me off by £250. Obviously this didn't fix the problem and they said the instrument cluster IS ALSO faulty and charged me another £99! At the end I had to take it to Motor Code Industry and they refunded me £225. I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole!

Correct, but the onus is on you to prove everything was done to manufacturer's requirements. Is it really worth it to save a few quid?

If a dealer does 'extra' work without your authority you are fully within your rights not to pay.

If you want a real hot deal buy the oil for £20 +£5 filter and do it yourself...

no way would I take my mondeo to my local ford garage!

They had it in for a rattle under a non ford warranty, replaced a belt follower for £250 and as I drove off the rattle was still there. took it straight back and another mechanic said ' oh yes, common problem', took it up on a ramp and in 3 minutes had it fixed with no parts added.

I asked why they hadn't road tested and they said it was not their policy for small jobs!!!!!!

TREGONING FORD WADEBRIDGE - absoulte rubbish!

To be fair it's a good deal i think tbh keep your service history up and 1 year break down cover worth like £40 odd ?

Many THanks

You Sir are a complete idiot. This £99 'service' is nothing more than a brief check over the car and then they will undoubtedly load on the extras such as changing the oil & filters etc which will obviously need doing.

A complete & utter rip-off

WRONG! Another one who cant read.

This is a visual inspection only and no work is done whatsoever without extra charges

Also note the roadside cover only applies on cars registered between 1st October 2005 and 1st december 2007

Only authorised driver is covered and must be present at time of breakdown. Cover is only provided at the roadside (not at home or private property e.g. retail / work car park etc )

We put a Rover in for one of these £99 services (+ a £30 MOT) at Dees of Croydon in the summer, the promotion then was what they termed a 'full' service for any make of car over 3 years old. Tbh I wouldn't go back: the service seemed minimal, they didn't change the plugs and I doubted whether they changed the oil or filters. In fairness, the car sailed through its MOT and there wasn't a phone call saying extras needed doing. The admin side was very good, a polite reminder phone call the day before, flexible booking times etc but what was worse is that they were reluctant to stamp the book (they did in the end) because it wasn't a ford.
Now they call it a 'value' service, it really seems like a bunch of checks which seems very expensive for what it is!

Was told by the woman on the desk at my local Fraud dealer that was basically just an oil change, they wont change your spark plugs of air/pollen filter. They also WILL NOT stamp your service log with this because it isn't a scheduled service, thus, if your car is still in warranty having this service will invalidate it. You can get an oil filter and quality oil from your local motor factors and change it yourself for £20 and roadside assistance for £30.

Local garages will have no problem with you watching the inspection and service being done.
They will also talk through their inspection actually showing you any fault.
Main dealers do not allow anyone in the service area and thay want you to believe that the car has many problems which you cannot see.

Never again will I trust a Ford franchised dealer for servicing...1st experience 18 months ago the car was returned with the black engine cover missing and the screws on the airfilter housing completely loose.....after a meeting with the garage owner I was compensated with a Free next service....this was performed 6 months ago and again was botched....they totally messed up the ECU software so the car lacked power....they tried to excuse themselves by saying that a component must have failed on the journey home and started quoting all sorts of silly repair prices.
I returned the car to the garage and again demanded to speak to the owner ....the car was then checked only to find the incorrect software had been installed when updating the ECU......NEVER AGAIN......my advise is to get regular oil changes at National Tyres for about £30 ...air and pollen filters are cheap at motor factors and easy to change.....and if petrol then spark plugs are straightforward to replace......National Tyres will stamp your service book if you ask nicely.

Took my 3 year old ford focus back to motorpoint for trade in and when i was asked is the service history up to date on the vehicle i explained it was, with full ford stamps on the service record book, the chap said its of no significance to us where you got the car serviced,as long as it`s been serviced at a vat registered garage, that is all they were concerned with !!

As my Galaxy was less than 3 years old, I took it for a service at the local Ford dealer in Chorley, Lancashire. All they did is oil change + visual inspection. They handed me an invoice of £160. A complete rip off in my opinion.
