Cold. It was never worth the original price, nor the current Amazon price. The original price will buy you a Bahco 1/4" & 1/2" set (two sets, 49 piece), or many other options. £29 will but you a 3/8" set. All with lifetime warranty. £24.99 is about all it's worth at best, so not a "deal", just an over-inflated original price.

To preempt the naysayers, think about it- they're now selling it under £40% of it's original price. They're either selling it at a loss or a profit. If the former, it must be pretty bad to be forced to sell it at a loss. If the latter (which is more likely), then it's just a cheap set that they were originally robbing people blind on, or purposely listed at an inflated price specifically with the view of dropping it to make it look like a bargain.

That's the missus' Valentine's present sorted. It was either this or a drone.
Bargain, had a 1/2 inch set for a few years now, used regularly with no problems

Not really a deal as they are not hardened pieces at this price but one good thing about this set is that the number of pieces is not mainly filled by cheap soft screwdriver pieces which increasing number of products are.
just bought 1,last 1 in brighouse,we see how good there are, working on car, over weekend,
I would be tempted to see if the Halfords Advanced sets are on sale. Bit of a balancing act against the price of this, as the larger Halfords sets are packed full of imperial bits you’ll never use, but you get a lifetime guarantee and mine’s stood up to plenty of use and abuse across two cars.

Why are you comparing two Bahco sets to the original price of this set(not that you can get them at the price you claim anyway) when this set is £24.99.
This set gets excellent reviews, and to look at certainly looks the part,it's a very well rounded set that with a few more tools would allow you to take on a wide range of jobs on vehicles.
Voted Hot.

To point out that it was never worth the supposed original price. Bahco S240 + SL25, £63.54 on Amazon (or a straight £65 on Toolstop) as we speak, I wouldn't have said it otherwise. This made-up-brand set was never worth the same or more than the Bahco's. If you buy tools on how they look, I can see why you'd defend it- no offense intended. But as you say, a well-rounded set- or at least it will be after a few weeks of using it

I'm not saying it's not worth £25, I'm saying it's not worth any more than that.

So you're comparing A £63.54 set with a £24.99 set, guess what, pay more you get better quality. The issue is not which is best, its whether this is a deal or not. The good reviews this set receives suggest its of decent quality.

Am I not explaining myself properly? I'm comparing £63.54 worth of sockets with a set that's whole "deal" status is based on the fact that it's supposedly reduced from £64.99.

If it was never worth £64.99 to start with, and was just priced at that point for the purpose of reducing it down to its actual value, then that's not a deal. Buying something for it's actual value isn't a deal. Buying something for less than its value is a deal.

Am I not explaining myself the initial price has nothing to with the the price in the deal. You stating this set is no good goes against all the reviews. What is your experience with this set that you know better than those who own it.

Of course it does! If it was always on sale for £25 it wouldn't be a "deal" would it? You can buy £25 socket sets for £25 anytime, anywhere. Maybe I'll post one up and you can hot-vote it for me?! And for the millionth time I didn't say it was no good, I said it was never worth £65. Jesus.

The point is its not always £25 therefore it's a deal. You never mentioned your experience with this set.

Oh so the original price has become relevant again all of a sudden has it? I'll humour your question- I haven't any first-hand experience with this set, but I have seen and held (not used, other than to play with) the Macalister set from B&Q which comes from the same stable. It was OK but not worth the £40 they were trying to sell it for. Beyond that, the product comes with one year warranty. When a similar product at a similar price has a lifetime warranty, that's a good indication of quality. Now I'll ask you your experience with this set, and the Bahco's, and how you find they compare and if you think they are worth the same price?

Can you get as good or better for this money, I doubt it. Is Bahco better, of course it is but its much more expensive.
Bought a couple of ratchets for silly money a couple of weeks ago, much better quality than I expected, the ratchet mechanism feels comparable quality of the many halfords professional stuff I bought last year. Can't move in my garage for socket sets now or I'd probably get this one too

p.s. Mech fitter by trade, this stuff is decent home DIY stuff imho.

They are discontinuing the Forge steel range, voting hot as it's a very good set.

Forge Steel is Screwfix/B&Q own brands so advertising a price from Amazon is some dodgy bloke buying the stuff from Screwfix if it sells as Amazon has no listing fees there is no risk. It just catches idiots who don't know what they are looking at and think if it's on Amazon it's got to be a deal...
I own this, got it for a similar price about a year ago, great set, HEAT!
It's heat from me, was really tempted by the red & black handles, checked I had a set in the workshop, I did, had a chicken pie then pulled myself together, alls good now, phew that was a close one!

I kind of agree with your argument but that is the case with every thing you buy. isn't it? I purchased a LG 3D smart TV few months ago from tesco with original price of £500+ and I purchased it for less than 200£. sometimes retailers/manufacturer lower the price to get rid of stock and that is when you grab a bargain.

Sort of, but that's not quite the point I was trying to make. But using your TV analogy, I might be able to make the point a bit better:

Panasonic 55" TV = £500 (not reduced)
Tesco Technika 55" TV = £500 (not reduced)

The Technika gets reduced to £300 and gets hailed as a deal, because it was originally £500, but it was never worth £500 to start with, and £300 is probably it's correct value. So it's worth £300 but that doesn't make it a bargain, just it's actual value.
Just picked up the last one at Deeside well worth the money feels a good quality set ratchets feel heavy duty doesn’t feel like cheap stuff to me well pleased thanks for the heads u
