I find they are very good especially for the price - i have many forge steel tools.

need one

The tools are OK for the occasional DIYer. I wouldn't use it in my trade though.

Can I ask what you would recommend then, for a amateur...

Some of the Stanley basic ranges are very good value for money. I had some free screwdrivers from forge steel, they were hopeless.

I own this set already...its very good but as said no good for trade, just for general home use, its a bargain and the case is very sturdy...weighs a fair bit too

FYI this cant be bought in TC's ONLY by internet...I bought it 3 months before I quit Screwfix

I am a qualified motorcycle and toolmaking engineer. Many steel forged products are rubbish and some exceed their status of being likened to chocolate fireguard's.
Many bodgers blame the quality of forged steel products when in fact it is the user who is at fault not knowing how to use them correctly.
To test steel forged products I put them through the hammer and vice test! Put the product half-way into a bench vice and hit the product with a ball pein hammer to see if the object bends. If it snaps after three hits then you have your answer.
I have used Snap-On and Teng Tools products that have faired worse than some steel forged items. All tools are only as good as the person who is using them. I have many tools you cannot buy because I have invented them or customised them to suit my needs.
The rule 'you get what you pay for' is a myth. I have seen products bought from Lidl's, Netto, and Aldi last longer than their high-price branded contemparies at a fraction of the cost.

The headline price is excluding V.A.T. as per the Screwfix catalogue

You had me going there! The products are chrome vanadium which are of superior quality to forged steel.
An absolute steel or steal at that price!

Get some knowledge of how to use them correctly and these could last you a lifetime.

I've had the cheaper ones in the past and they were terrible. Can't comment on the above but they're chrome vandium so should be excellent. I eventually spent a bit more and replaced my set for Stanley Fatmax but these seem a great deal.

Errm think you may be getting mixed up with Forge Steel products, they are just a brand not 'Steel Forged' made products you refer to.

A fantastic set, quality tools, durable and I imagine it isn't going to be a light box with all that kit inside.
