Was looking to build a new phenom pc, this motherboard was the best price could find with the AMD 890GX chipset. Has ATI graphics onboard and is full size ATX. Doesn't have USB 3.0 like some of the others however but if you don't need it seems a great deal.

Doesn't look too bad for a Crossfire board and for a 890GX chipset

Give it a miss AMD is about to drop there new CPU so these board will be in free fall very soon and Foxconn is not a good make when it comes to motherboards.

Wow. It'll be out of date, will it ? And the next one won't ?
EVERY board goes out of date quickly.
Wait, and they ALL fall.
Not as fast as YOU seem to think, though !

Bulldozer is supposed to work with am3 though, anyway if you're gonna grab a phenom II like me this is the best cheapest board I can find to put it in

pretty sure i know someone with this board, and pretty sure he had his doubts initially but ultimately was pretty impressed by it http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l301/niceguyrichy/446352f4.png

How does that have anything to do with the board though!

Review of it here tweaktown.com/rev…tml

I think only the 890FX AM3 boards will be compatible with bulldozer

I don't normally follow Corporate hate, but its hard not to take notice of Foxconn's issues, but then again, look at any MNC, they all have a shady operations, Look at Coca Cola, they hired Paramilitary Mercenaries to kill union leaders so that they could exploit the workers more!

Maybe just 'the only good corporate', apple pushed them too hard .

That kind of problems are faced almost everywhere - how many people suffer or die because of bank executives' greed , how many people committed suicide due to ineffective,narrow-minded MPs...

Anyway, it's still a very good board with the newest chipset from great retailer. It seems Bulldozer should work with amd 880 chipsets too, just the bios may need to be updated.

I am looking to build my own PC. My starting budget is around 300 quid. I will need it for multitasking and possibly gaming. Would this board be a good starting point to build around, or whatis the most popular board around at the moment.

your biggest expense will be the power supply and operating system. OS =£120, power supply another £60+, case will be another £40, by then you dont have much of a budget left. better to buy something half decent for that then upgrade it in 2 years or so when it starts to slow.

I have the OS and a Coolermaster 460 power supply, if thats anygood, also a hard drive. So case motherboard chip graphics card ???

Only "Black Socket" AM3+ boards will be comopatible with Bulldozer. So named because they have a black socket compared to the white one that vanilla AM3 boards have. AM3+ boards are available.

I wouldnt say that the lack of this makes this a terrible deal though. Of course there might be further reductions, but building a system around a dying generation can make sense, the CPU makers are changing their sockets so frequently these days that when you want next upgrade you will probably have to change board regardless, so buying EOL can make sense, similar to buying a car that is reduced because its just about to be replaced by a new version/ facelift.
