I do like my r5. Next time though I'll be going for a glass one. Because, why not? Ridiculous lights the lot. Maybe an air horn.

What with Ram prices, Spectre et al, and GPU cost still on the high side I agree with you. But OP heat added

i have the r6 with tempered glass, really really happy with it, lots of youtubers fav case of 2017. its about £13 more, but well worth it unless youre building an ugly PC to stick under the desk.

Any cases with easily accessible type-c ports?
I have one of the smaller towers and I love these cases.

Opened it up the other day after not looking inside for at least 2 years. Barely any dust at all.

I play games for immersion. Lights and noise break that. So i went for the Antec P180 about 14 years ago and am on my 5th rebuild in the same case. About as silent as you can get, with padded case walls. I don't get folks who want to get into a game with 100 lights in dozens of colours spinning and flashing nearby. Never mind fans whirring. Seems a bit like watching a movie next to a quiet disco.

Couldn't agree more. I have one of these cases, and I love it. I'm happy with the black monolithic slab that doesn't light up my entire room.

It's a preference thing though. 10 years ago I had an Antec 900 then 1200. I thought it was amazing, all the lights and colours! Then a light film of dust gets onto it and makes it look slightly ugly. After that I realised I just prefer a well filtered sound proofed case for quieter PC use. Absolutely hate all the RGB crap now. Seems a bit tacky except in certain use cases. For gaming or editing it's useful (see keys in the dark or highlighting certain keys).

It's where the industry is going, same like the old parts used to be made of UV colours and neon green/blue see through plastic parts. All ugly nowadays IMO.
The R6 has priced to high to begin with, though good to see the price normalising. For comparison I paid £75 for the R5 in 2015.
Own the blackout version, love it. I've used several of Fractals cases over the years and always been chuffed with them. First case was an R2 then R3, Arc, R4, R5, Define C, Meshify C and now R6.

It does have a bright power/hdd activity light near the power button but it can be disconnected.

BeQuiet Dark Base 700
Got the TG version of this, cracking case. Super quiet and really well put together.

Can be tricky if your going to do the optional bits for this though, took me a while to figure it out. Putting in a 5.25'' drive was pretty tricky when the drive cage cover was moved to the other side.
