The album is one of Zappa's most eclectic efforts, encompassing the improvisational title track, the raucous guitar jam "Transylvania Boogie," the bluesy "Road Ladies" and the jazzy "Twenty Small Cigars," along with more conventional rock numbers like "Tell Me You Love Me," "Would You Go All the Way?" and "Sharleena."

Zappa is one of the absolute best musicians of the 20th Century. If you think he writes weird music and can't write a tune then check this song out written with George Duke >

Some very tasty guitar licks in that song.

I recommend Overnite Sensation and Apostrophe as two albums with utterly insane musicianship. Zappa had everything genius intellect, genius guitar playing, genius musical knowledge and composition.

There's way too many songs by Zappa that I love but here's a few I recommend >

Any song from the Hot Rats album

The Grand Wazoo - from The Grand Wazoo

Big Swifty - from Waka / Jawaka

Sleep Dirt from the Sleep Dirt

Zoot Allures from the Zoot Allures

The Torture Never Stops from Zoot Allures - the guitar playing totally ahead of its time

Black Napkins - Zoot Allures

Mothers of Invention - Harry you're a beast / Orange County Lumber Truck (part I & II) - The Mothers Ahead of their time albums

G-Spot Tornado from The Yellow Shark

Rat Tomago - from Sheik Yerbouti

Catholic Girls - Joe's Garage

Here's one of Zappa's best live performances with the incredible Adrian Belew (Bowie, Talking Heads, King Crimson), l particularly love how he high five's the audience members in the middle of his guitar solo >

Zappa was a musician of extraordinary depth and ability, uncomparable to anybody else that has ever existed, no one has composed and played so convincingly in the genres he has. He could write an insanely complex classical piece one minute and shred through an angular guitar solo the next. I've given just a few examples of the different musical styles he traversed. I'm a massive fan of course and I get why some people couldn't listen to some of the songs, he has something for everyone though, you just need pointing in the right direction. Hope I did. There's so much I've missed out but half the fun is the discovery yourself.

That song is similar to stuff I've heard. Not all of it is weird. This is my opinion. There is a lot of what I call weird music out there that I like. Early Genesis & the electronic band Kraftwerk come to mind. Also, tho' I think Zappa's music can be weird, it's different & likeable in someway. I know plenty of folk tho' who just wouldn't entertain such music & give it names far more discouraging than I would.

In this life, the important thing is as long as you like it, that's all that matters.
