Not a huge fan of these split sink bowls. Makes dishes difficult because there's less space to work with especially if washing large pots and pans.
Relax, don’t do it

What are people's opinion on 1.5 bowl sinks? I am not sure if they are better than standard ones? I assume the are bigger?

I always get 1.5. Make sure the .5 is of reasonable depth. This one from the picture looks OK.

if you have 1.5 bowl does the sink tend to compromise on the main bowl so that the main bowl tends to be smaller than one in a standard sink?

I've had a 1.5 bowl sink for the last couple of years, prior to that I always had standard ones but i wouldn't want to go back to them.
Yes the main bowl is smaller and so is the draining area to allow room for the 1/2 sink but its so handy to have somewhere to throw coffee dreggs, food scraps (I have a waste disposal on the small sink) or just rinse things before putting them in the main sink for washing.
You may not like it if you are used to, and need, a big sink, say if you wash a lot of pots and pans, or you hand wash clothes in the sink like my mum used to.

What's that?

...a rinser....

Get rid of it
Problem with these reversible sinks is the horrible hole cover that is needed for the unused tap fixing. Franke's basic sinks used to come in both left and right orientations like the one I have.

Yes, that annoys me as well, they compromise an otherwise excellent product just to save a few quid and end up making it look like a cheap and tacky budget sink.

Really like it , would stay with it if changing again. Can strain in small sink without removing bowl from main sink. I would never go for a sink without a draining board either which is popular by those who don't use their kitchen other than to show off to friends. Water everywhere as have to put items on worktop unless you buy a plastic drainer (nice)

I install these sinks and glad they make them reversible, stops people sending the wrong damn sink all the time

One thing I notices with Franke sinks is that they aren't always made very well. They are made in a press and sometimes the corners are dented a little. Not much but it's enough where some people might complain as it is often on the front edge. Lots were sent back to where they were purchased for replacements. As with anything you buy, open it carefully in case in the odd occasion it needs to be returned

I have this sink for 10 years and its been brilliant, good quality tap as well , no issues
You get what you pay for on this one no way worth 120 to begin with
Bought these for gifts.
Just looks disgusting.
Can't stand stainless Steel sinks, look nasty after a few months use. Ceramic all the way.

A Franke tap is normally £80 plus so I dont think its to far off

But in my opinion franke tap is not worth having it fitted in first place I always recommend my clients at least get an entry level grohe at £120ish that will last a while and wouldnt need to mess about with it

Fitted many "cheap" taps that ended up needing replacement in 1-2years

Worked out cheap+fitting + more expensive + fitting

for myself it was better off but clients obviously had a lesson that was not free at all

Bit better off if you can do it yourself

Regarding the sink these as far as I remember dont have any support for the tap and it is just fitted to the metal sheet bouncing about, nothing wrong with it but there are other options that are not particularly expensive but work and last much better/longer

To tiny, they are making them smaller and smaller. A local neighbour redecorated her kitchen but kept the old sink which is what I'm going to do on my next one.

Good advice as labour so expensive. I fitted the whole thing myself, took 8 hours and a cut finger lol, but had no problem with the tap or sink for 10 years. Of course quality may have been better then.

I have a split sink and the main bowl is bigger than my previous single sink. It's huge on my new Franke sink. I have this one pictured

There isn't a hole cover on mine that's reversible. 1 hole is for tap the other hole is for a little dial you use to raise or lower the plug

Why do you use a bowl inside the sink?
Dont leave any aluminium pans on this for to long.
I'd never have a 1.5 sink again, makes washing larger pans and trays so much harder.
Thank you for this. Great find and ordered. Just a note to all I got through to checkout and it showed as £50 and not £60. BARGAIN if this goes through

I'm not saying this one doesn't I'm just saying not all reversible have the cover on. Some are more premium than others

They wouldn't be reversible without two tap holes. Premium ones comr in left or right orientations.
