Franke Stainless Steel Kitchen Sink and Mixer Tap £99.99 @ screwfix

Top brand kitchen sink with mixer-tap included - all in stainless steel. Half price at Screwfix - £100.

I got this to replace my own kitchen sink as mine has a lot of scratches and dings from years of use. Shiny new tap I don't really need but at this price it's an added bonus.

I have a franke similar to this ( really don't link sinks with those silly little basins only big enough for knives and forks) and they aren't bad...bit flimsy but it is ageing quiet well I.e. No big scratches etc.

My Franke tap has been poor. The chrome surface has become corroded in places after 5 years ( believe me it's not through over zealous cleaning). No problem I thought ; it has a 10 year guarantee - only to find that surface finish is excluded. Typical guarantee really

I have the same problem, and have been told by a dealer that the taps supplied with the sinks are apparently designed to do this to make you buy another one !

If anyone is just after a new tap there are many good quality ones to choose from on Amazon and Ebay at much cheaper prices than Screwfix, B&Q etc.
e.g. amazon.co.uk/s/r…2_8?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=monobloc+kitchen+tap&sprefix=monobloc%2caps%2c185&rh=i:aps%2ck:monobloc+kitchen+tap

Franke... are no different from other manufactures as they do make/sell cheaper end products for the masses

I got my tap and sink in a fantastic sale online, and more than pleased...I bought commercial standard sink and tap
I'd done the weeks of looking round the usual super stores...was very disappointed with their quality/price for thin bendy sinks
So researched and bought online...;)

Which one did you buy please? I know how to find a good quality tap (would always buy Grohe) but which sinks are decent?

Thanks - just ordered

thanks

I've bought from this manufacturer before. Great quality. Do you think Franke will remember me?

My Stainless Franke lasted 3 years. It showed up every little watermark. Unless you've got OCD its a b#gger to keep clean.

Do you mean Wickes? I never buy rebranded sanitary ware as it's impossible to replace it / get spare parts for it if you need to in a couple of years' time (when the retailer will have found an even cheaper product to rebrand and won't stock the one you bought any longer). I steered clear from bathstore when installing a bathroom, for the same reason. I prefer to buy items from established brands which cost just a little more in some cases.

You'll have to pay for quality, so buy in the sale...or ex-display
I went for a commercial Franke sink that sat on the unit completely back to front..no silly little strip of worktop at the back
and tiled over the sink nearest the wall...I can't remember the model...it's the 1 and 1/2 sink one

That's actually a good idea. The strip of worktop at the back of my sink just collects water and that's all it's good for.

I bought the £20 tap from Aldi a few months back. Works a treat lol u mad?

your talking fitted and unfitted, it should have nothing to do with quality.

Talking about Commercial Quality as used in a Restaurant Kitchens... which you'll have to pay more for...to buy and fit
But if your saffy enough buy in a sale or ex-display..and if you've got a mates who's a handyman to help fit it...as I did
Sound..;)

We bought a Franke sink and tap in 1994 when we moved house. In 1997, the house burnt down, but this being stainless steel, it survived, we salvaged it, and we are still using it in our new home.

I don't know whether that's a sad story or a happy one.
So you lost everything except the kitchen sink?

I bought a £25 kitchen tap from toolstation 6 years ago thinking to keep it for a little while until I found a proper one.
To these days no leaks, chrome finish still as new.
Have I been lucky?

No, you sensibly didn't buy a Franke tap. I have been surprised how many people have posted of their problems here. It tells me i haven't been unlucky and that the taps really are pricey but very poor and gives lie to the phrase 'you get what you pay for'

Yes I have. The first few are all very cheap and I wouldn't buy one that is less than £30. You get what you pay for and if you look at the weight that is often a clue as to quality. If it's less than 2kg beware. Amazon do have an easy returns policy though.
