Get a Kenwood electric tin opener. The best £15 I've ever spent, and going strong for 10+ years.

And you believe that???!!!
I always end up with gloopy undercooked pastry no matter what I do or how long I cook it for. What am I doing wrong?
These used to be lush, now they're more pastry than filling
??? Well what it says on the tin is usually what's in it. So in this case it'll just be chicken ! What I mean by that is there's just chicken in the pie.
They are so very bad now, all gravy and pastry. If you find more than four pieces of actual meat in them call the Guinness book of records.
It probably made up mostly of beak......

Looks very much like diarrhea in the image on the tin 🤢
you can always keep the Tins and use them as plates when you go camping?
No way that rubbish is going on my mouth!!

Oh god..... or buy plastic plates for 10p in HB,Lidl etc, and not cut your finger or suffer the embarrassment of eating out of old FRAY BENTOS tins for plates!!!!

Agreed, gloopy suet and no flakey pastry on top, these are useless now compared to the 80’s
Jefft08/11/2019 17:35

No it isn't it's very easy to remove.

Wasn’t then,... isn’t now .....disgrace they’ve not come up with a user friendly lid after 40 years!

Correct, is it like going back to the dark ages? What’s the attraction?

I don't know what the problem is I never have trouble removing the lid. You need to get a decent tin opener.

Probably correct, but the one I have opens everything ..except these ,which we have once every 5 years or so when feeling a bit nostalgic, so ,...do I invest £15 for a tin opener that I only need once every 5 years for a 70p pie?? Which makes the pie £5ish a go, and isn’t particularly good when cooked, or do I just not buy em in future.... At 90 years of age it’s a big NO from me !!!

Agreed. What a twonk. I'm a big fan of macaroni cheese with hotdogs when I'm camping so next time I'm going to use a pie tin to eat it. Quality.

I've got one of these. Rotate it around the periphery of the lid. Then clasp the edge of the lid/can with the built in pinchers. Voila a complete whole lid comes off.
