me and my brother had a lesson. They just forward you on to a local bike school who are participating. They are bikers don't expect the most enthused business minds. They are giving up their own time.if they can't be bothered it figured they aren't getting any returning business they'll stop doing it. They offer you a training package at the end you don't have to accept it.

yea I got that far lumoruk, just didn't hear back from my local participating place. Shame because I'm really interested in getting a bike but just want to try it 1st. Never mind... I'll just have to take my business elsewhere

I already heard from my local centre after registering on the website yesterday - let's hope the lesson will be fun

COLD i booked this 2 years ago im still waiting since then got a bike a been for test. this is time wasted

Its really worth while taking the free lesson as a taster before you do your CBT if you are planning to do it.

gives you a bit of a head start

thanks just filled details in, fingers crossed.

Sorry OP, but dont waste your time people, I signed up about 6-8months back, never heard anything back, just get lots of junk mail off them.

Look people, this is a scheme. Local bike trainers have signed up for it, if you have registered and never got a response then don't blame geton as they just refer your request to the local company, if you don't get a response, try another local place that subscribe to the scheme.

My wife went on one of the free courses in Chester and the trainers were excellent, contacted the day after and arranged it, then had a follow up call a week later and haven't been bothered by them since. you just have to remember its not one big company, its just a referral to smaller subscribed training companies, not all of them may have the time or inclination but they can't all be tarred with the same brush.

did this last time in Bristol - really enjoyed it - didn't go any further re cbt as family not too happy with idea, was impressed with the course and the fact that there was no hard sell after

Great. Also want to learn the basics of motorcycle riding. For exciting getaways, hot pursuits etc.

Had a licence for years but no bike for years too. Thinking of using to get backside back in the saddle for a brief while to see if the bug bites again.

Anyone else used as refresher?

Not sure they'd let you if you already have a full licence. I miss my bike whenever I don't use it for a week or so and always wish I'd used it more!

Same here, would they allow it ? Do they check your license?

fab booked as a little extra christmas present for my 16 year old sister x x

is there an age limit to this????

i did this 2 years ago and left some really positive (honest) comments on the bike training site after, they really were great .. remember it's small private companies, don't take the proverbial and if you do get a free lesson, try to give a little back - if only by recommending them to others (paying!).
it's all done on private ground so you don't need any kind of licence but a provisional at least is a good start, and if your an unusual size, big/small etc call ahead to make sure they have your size of equipment
