So this is a strange one, so bare with me

Halifax consistently offer £50 cashback via your Bank Account if you "join" or "rejoin" with Sky TV.

I noticed I received this cashback last month when I have been a Sky Customer for over 5 years.

I realised, in the run up to the cashback, I was not paying by direct debit.

Then during the offer period, I set up a direct debit, which triggered the £50 cashback.

So if you have this offer currently on your bank account, you could cancel your direct debit with Sky, wait a few of months (T&C's usually stipulate 4 months with no "first" direct debit to Sky) for the offer to reappear, and once it does, set up your direct debit.

And you'll see £50 appear out of nowhere.

Worth a shot?

EDIT: Santander also offer similar cashbacks.

Logging into MySky and paying by Debit Card. Sky do not offer any discounts for Direct Debit, so didn't make much difference to me.
Account specific - I don’t have the offer.

That's a shame
Or setup a DD on a partner/friends account for 1month and switch back for a free £50. Lloyds also offer the same cashback occasionally.

What an idea, but it has to be more then 1 month with Halifax

I see and I was wrong with Lloyds, it’s 2 DD payments before cashback.

Here are the Lloyds cashback terms from my account if it helps anyone.

How do Halifax know if it's sky TV you have and not just broadband? The Direct debit doesn't describe the service provided

Good to hear Lloyd's have it too
Thanks OP, was paying my Sky tv automatically every month from my credit card. Went on my Halifax app, found the deal and activated it and then changed my DD details to my halifax account on the Sky website.

Only took me a few minutes and doesn’t bother me what account the bill gets taken out of so it’s worth a try

I've been with sky for 2 years, but this offer isn't on my reward offers. Ironic really, cos I'm thinking of leaving Halifax and sky

Did you get it all 3 times via this method? Or just automatically?
Santander is doing 100£. DD just changed to mine from my other half.worth a try. Good spot OP like others mentioned have to wait for 2 months.according terms your Ford DD should be between dec and April .
how about this you might be able to cycle this offer example

pay for 4 months with Lloyds via DD and then change to Halifax pay via DD

Yep, so may not work on your current offer, but prob will on a future offer if you keep the DD off the account with cashback

Sorry I misunderstood your situation.

You have the offer on your bank account and historically the DD is on other halves, so you switchrd it across to see if you get it.

Indeed. I got the cashback a while ago and only realised today and asked why I hadn't shared it.

Getting the santander offer as above but my only concern is that the offer expires 19/02/19 and my next DD is due at the end of the month - what do you reckon?

Yeah was thinking of that too..but if you look at my comment above with Santander terms and conditions of the offer it says your first DD ca be up until 7 th of April.

Not sure if Santander is going to check when you subscribed or something. But worth’s. Try ate nothing to loose either way we are paying.
I am assuming cash back is an automated system payment I think as long as it sees at in the DD it will probably add the cash back not sure. Let’s wait and see🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
I've changed the title as it seems some Bank customer are being offered £100 cashback and where as others are £50, seems to vary between customers
I don't think it would look so good for your credit rating by skipping paying a company. Not worth the risk for £50.

Nobody suggested skipping payment.

Whilst I didn't have a DD in place, I logged in via app and paid by Debit Card by the due date
