They are giving free boxes of mince pies past the tills / self checkout area.

Local deal, but I imagine that it may happen in many other stores.

Also grabbed some of their luxury (Christmas) chocolate bars for 99p.

Loooooooool, too funny
reminds me of the time that my local sainsburys was giving out a free cabbage to every customer. my husband came home from the supermarket one evening with a free cabbage and we both puzzled over what to do with it. lol
No chance of that in London.
The Huddersfield store were giving away free stollen today
My local had boxes literally boxes full of stollen! Still in date as well
Same here, Gateshead has Stollen, packs of biscuits and mince pies. Heat + Fat!
At the tills in the Wallasey store, customers informed they could take a Panettone when leaving. Apparently, there was a large stand of them, but they'd gone when I visited about an hour later. Various small Christmas items available - mini stollens, chocolate balls/tree decorations, lebkuchen etc.. The mini stollen are v.nice!

It's a lovely gesture from Lidl. (Hopefully, it won't be abused!) Heat, OP!

but how? raw? we have never bought a cabbage before, lol.

i ended up stir fry it and ate that (my husband didn't want to eat it so i ate it on my own), but it wasn't exactly great. but hey, it was free, so never look a gift horse in the mouth and all that
Our local has mince pies biscuits and stollen cake next to the tills
Yeah, even free you won't get a Scotsman eating fruit.

I sometimes have a little with a Sunday dinner or in a stir fry etc
In Maryhill........ I thought there'd be a queue of short-haired police cadets looking for something to nibble.

I hope you didn’t accept any, you could be arrested for “handling stollen goods”
