thanks
Thanks! Worth checking other suppliers as well.
All other companies; nPower, British Gas etc have similar guidelines for who gets the grant, prepayment customers are also entitled.
Yes can confirm British Gas do it as my mum has just got it.
No right wingers have any comments then?

To be honest i stopped worrying about this type of thing years ago when i looked at some figures on how much Blair's (illegal?) wars cost us...i don't mean the lost lives but the financial costs.
just checked my supplier "SSE" scottish & southern electric. they have a form to fill in on their site. here is the link if anyone needs it.

Great just what we need another deal for people on benefits! Meanwhile hard working people pay full whack!
I dont know why they dont just force all hardworking people to adopt a benefits claimant and be done with it.
it's poor how lazy people can get this, yet those on high rate DLA seem to have to jump through hoops for it.

If i do will they send me a christmas card?
Anybody got the address to send the rest of my savings to, I assume the government will want it, to pay for all these benefits.
A tip for younger people, keep all your savings under the bed, then you will be eligible when you retire.
Some of the comments on here are disgusting. Read the conditions of the rebate, it isn't for people claiming JSA this is for people receiving benefits that may not be able to work whether it's taking care of a child or someone disabled if not disabled themselves.
Its simple, you use it, you pay for it.

If you cant afford to use it, don't use it!

So if I cant afford the gas for my central heating then I shouldn't use it to keep me baby warm in the winter??
Think before you say something as you just make yourself sound like an idiot. If this was open to everyone and not limited to people on benefits you saying you wouldn't claim £130?

Well i may be wrong but i was a hard working bloke who in 55 years of life had 6 months on the dole back in 1980 did 12 years exemplary service for king and country.Had a work accident (not my fault) in 2010 i am now only able to work 26 hours a week which is shattering i get 21% Industrial Injuries Disability Benefit. That's it can't claim anything else as i'm TOO FIT.I don't begrudge honest claimants anything but do pity the ones (like my wife) who are dependent (and worrying). on those of us according to Headway (the Brain Injuries charity) are just a little bit too undamaged!!!! What do you suggest we do? oO

I think you misunderstand what I'm saying, other people on here have commented about it being "another benefits deal" and how "only lazy people can get this". I was simply pointing out that they should read the conditions listed in the title as it isn't aimed at people who can work but don't, it is aimed at people with dependants and disabled.
This is to actually replace the Social Tariff which was the cheapest rate of fuel for those on certain benefits with disabilities etc but now everyone pays the same for their electricity & gas which of course is sky high so many people in vunerable situations are really struggling!

The money is apparently paid ie put onto your meter or credited to your bill around March but to be honest cheaper fuel all year round would be more helpful for weekly budgeting purposes as by the time it is paid many of those suffering from fuel poverty won't be helped through the winter ie will struggle during the colder months of Nov- Feb so I do not understand why they pay it in the Spring when winter is already over!

This is not for 'lazy' people but people in genuine need & fuel poverty is real with some people having to make the choice of ''food or fuel?'' when they are down to their last few pounds

( Not EVERYONE is going mad & spending hundreds of pounds on the 3 for 2 Tesco toy sale & being on benefits & unable to work means you struggle to get by , not live like a King or Queen on it!!! )

So disabled people on benefits should sit in the cold?

You're all heart aren't you??? (_;)
I do agree though that 'borderline' cases often struggle more than those who qualify & in my comments above I am referring to GENUINE claimants , not scammers

Everyone has heard of families on benefits who jet off to the sun twice a year , but as a single Mum in work but on occasion out of work I NEVER would have been able to afford a holiday on basic benefits if not working ( or doing something dodgy on the side! lol )

Fair point Cheeky girl. Genuinely disabled people deserve help and no one should have to choose between heating and eating!I think it just rankles people when they think the "masses"are getting something for nothing. Then smoking or drinking it away.If people looked at individual cases instead of the whole picture it would look different.
Still think the Government are helping too many spongers who take advantage of soft Britain.
The Fuel allowance though, paid in March to those who need and deserve it..Doesn't make sense. As said when deserved cases need it at the start of winter like now....
b.gas are offering £200 cash back if you switch your gas and electric

and seeing as they ahve reduced there prices THE LEAST from the big 5 suppliers its well worth checking and looking at switching provider
im with EDF and you can get it yes but bare in mind they say u will get it between november this year and april next year!
This is of course for disabled people that do not have a working partner (many do that would exclude them as they would not be entitled to income related benefits)
or also single parents with children, of which many will either be disabled themselves, or the child may be.

However there are also a great deal of young single mothers who see having children while not living with a partner as a lifestyle, to keep them on I.S. Of course many do not, but there is a significant proportion that do

Actually my point tho would be that why is this not extended to more disabled people, including those who can work, especially if their illness or disability means that they will spend or on fuel. To extend it to those that claimed WTC with the disability element would not be too hard at all.
Thanks for posting.

Hope it would be useful for people who really need it ...
Why dont you all just get a job. No thanks to you, our bills are going up as it's us that are paying for your rebate.

Exactly what I was thinking. I could have had children years ago, but I knew I wouldn't be financially stable enough so waited till my 30's. If everyone in the world realised that having children isn't a right and everyone else should pay for it, poverty and famine would plummet world over.

Glad to see its the disabled getting help, and not the fat arsed, chicken nugget munching, Jeremy Kyle sky plussing, carling swigging, lazy jobless types. Like my brother and sister in law.
should try E.Ons Best deal for you - saved me over £100 and they have rewards
I'm on dla and have been for 7 years prior to this i was in full time work, in may i was made fit for work and my benefits stopped, i was told to apply for jsa, but living 2 bus journeys away from the jobcentre i can't physically get there (and being blown up on a bus, i'm not comfortable on them) so, i just survive on my £105pw, i don't have heating on, just a quilt round me, yes i have a computer but not a new one (9 years old) ok, i'm single and no family living within a 100 miles so what can i do?

Another idiot, don't assume things without the facts. I didn't say I couldn't afford it or afford to take care of my child. I was simply making a point to the person who stated I shouldn't use my facilities if I can't afford it when they was just being sour because they are not entitled. The fact of the matter is that some people aren't in a good position as the gas bill is more expensive in winter and Christmas is round the corner. Here are the facts I had my daughter when I was 28, she is my only child and well looked after. I am not on benefits as my husband works. I am also not in debt and never have been.
As for the selfish comment how dare you, my sister and her partner planned on having a child and he cheated on her after she fell pregnant leaving her alone, she is finding it hard to take care of her son at this time of year but has my family's full support. Are you saying it was selfish for her to have him? As I don't believe abortion should be an option for a planned child.
Just because some are abusing the system it doesn't mean they all are.

Didn't think you could sound more idiotic. Where am I blaming other people for my sisters situation? Where in my response do I say she is owed something? I was simply opening your eyes to the fact that not everyone is having babies for benefits.
I think there is other things you need to be doing with you time, I suggest an English class. I for one do have better things to do then educate idiots so don't expect another reply.

It is worth looking into if you earn under £16k a year, and have children under 5, some companies will pay out the £130 for them, and also if you earn under £16k and you spend 10% of your wages on heating, they will look into crediting the £130
