unlike my post, this promo is valid for this year! nice one ^^

Thanks, will give it a go. Heat added.

This is really creepy..was just sorting through some stuff and found trial card from last year..."wonder if they're doing it again this year" thinks I, and here it is

spectacular:thumbsup:, heat from me

Not as good as previous years though because it expires on 11th July (last year was 31st July), so misses the summer hols completely

Perfect for the train trip I am taking with a kid on 5th July

As with last years offer, sign up for the trial and get a 1 year card for 13 quid, worth paying for

From 5th July 2010 (until 1st August 2010) you will be able to take advantage of the special 50% discount offer when you buy a 12-month Family & Friends Railcard online. So you might want to make a note of this date to ensure your Epic Savings continue - for only £13 for another whole year.

Thank you.

I do not have any children but I am married and want this for myself and my husband. Would it work for us?

Hi
Is there anyway that you can renew the card (with daily mail) before the 5th July...we will be abroad then and I have cheekily booked tickets using railcard....i need this railcard as won't be able to pay single fare for 4 people if the conductor pulls me up for card being invalid.......
Help please

You are supposed to have a child in tow, not sure how you would get round it.

top deal and you can get 50% of one for a year when this runs out.

We are in the same boat, as I go away on the 19th and am wondering how long it would take them to despatch the card, or could I pick it up at the station or something?

Fantastic thanks for posting , been waiting for this !

fat cats are adorable. by using the train network you support excessive bonuses and fat cats skimming the cream. 4% average ticket price rise per year thanks !

I don't normally travel by train, although I have that option.

What do I have to do with this card (assuming I am going to receive one)?

Thanks.

When you buy your tickets either at a machine or online you will have the option of choosing a family railcard ticket at the reduced price, or show it the the person at the counter. If you buy at a machine or online make sure you have the card with you when they inspect the ticket, otherwise you could get fined.

So this railcard that I'm getting online is going to entitle me to.... free travel using the train?
(or a discounted rate?)

Are there any restrictions, other than peak times?

Thanks.

Brill find been waiting for this .. heat added thanks x

So you have to have a child with you? For example, if I get this and travel to Manchester with a railcard, I would be able to get the discount rate for myself?

So would this be useful for just a young person? As my GF wants a railcard, but if she can use this, it will help out greatly! Any advice? rep will be given!

no, you have to travel with a child

Sent for, thank you..

Thank you, good find

The form to be filled for this offer has provision of only a single card holder.

However, the F&F rail-cards I have had in the past (purchased from the ticket window) have had provision for adding two names - for joint holding of the card. It used to come handy when only one of us (me and my wife) had to travel with the child.

Can I do the same when I go ahead and purchase the half-price yearly rail-card in July.

YES!..I did this last year and added my friends name (as other half is always with me and kids if we travel) so we split the cost and we used it when needed.
you could always get 2 free cards for the trial period one in each name.

Thanx op Great find! Id been looking at getting another card this week as need it for Thursday...just hope it arrives in time !!

thanks

Many thanks. I knew that this was likely to appear soon and it is a heck of a good deal for anyone travelling with an under-16 yr old. Very lucky this year as the card runs out a few days after our holiday in Britain ends.

To clear up a couple of questions asked;

The Terms and Conditions state that you have to have at least one child with you. (I'm assuming you could always pay for a child you didn't have but that would defeat the purpose of the discount)

It is for a discount not a free fare.

Good find for those with sprogs!
