seems like a good deal but i dunno if the tv's are any good, hopefully so.

I can add that the 20" 'freebie' is certainly recommended by Which, it is the 20S3000 range in various colours...the only thing you have to check out is the 40"+ TV's in the offer. As far as I know the 40S3000 is pretty good, but not sure if the Debenhams price is competitive with other online retailers. The cheapest you will get a 20S3000 range is approx £299 delivered.

You can get the 2 sets for less elsewhere particularly see Empire Direct Television packages. See for example

Some of the M&S 40" offerings are somewhat older models

Its Sony...Can they get any better?

well yes the last few years sony havent been a brand leader and there … well yes the last few years sony havent been a brand leader and there prices are dropping.

That''s not true. Until the last year or two Sony had slipped. But now they're back. Their lcd screens are very well reviewed. But even so. If I was buying a 40+ inch tv I would go for the Panasonic TH42PX70 plasma tv every time. I've got this one and have seen a lot of other screens that cost less than £1000 and they don't come close to the Panny. Plus you can get it for £650.

From what I can tell most of the electricals on the M&S web site are overpriced even after the supposed reduction, no doubt at all you are paying for that 20" TV.

Sorry voted cold.

I think thats the power of advertising for you........yes most certainly it can get better, there are many brand names out there equally as good if not better than Sony. Doubtless they do sell good equipment but so do many other manufacturers, what Sony are good at is maintaining a brand image that fools consumers into paying inflated prices for no good reason!
