If you use code "CYCLEHIRE18" on the first day, then on the second day use code "XMASCYCLE18", you will get 2 days free instead of just 1.

Enjoy.

Used one to rob a bank yesterday.

Was it Santander?
diddles511 h, 32 m ago

I'm sure that you could always get it free for 30 min journeys

You pay £2 for the day and then all journeys under 30min are free, go over 30min and there are further charges.
But the daily charge has always applied.

Free cycle? Cool! Voted hot!
Does this make you pay £2 when you sign up? It does with me..?

Not sure why the deal says discounted to free from £6 - 24 hour access period is normally £2?

Last time I tried to use one of these I had the pain of phoning to claim a refund - the bike dock I landed at as the 30 minutes were approaching was full with one broken (but not recognised by the system as broken) docking station which meant the button you press to extend the free period when the dock is full wasn't active.

Heat added - free is free! (and I assume as usual you can get multiple free 24 hour access periods as long as you ensure you use a different bank card for each day with the code).

Nice winter cycle
they still charge some money and you are responsible if they find damages, they are expensive. Time wasting, best on foot

I hope you observed the speed limit whilst making your getaway and returned the bike to a bay
....hmmm... free? Must be a catch.
Is the catch that the 24hours starts from 00.00 on 25th December?
Seems like a bit of a hassle to return it within 30minutes in London

That is usually a comment made by people who haven't ridden one of them! Not fast, not all that comfortable, not cool for a thief to ride, or even bother destroying. The docking stations seem to be sufficiently robust to put off casual vandalism. The ones that appear to be obviously being ridden illegally (i.e. a LONG way from any docking station!) I assume are initially stolen with a dodgy bank card.

On the other end of the spectrum, the non-docking bikes (e.g. ofo) I regularly see being ridden for free having long since had their locks busted, or see them dumped in various damaged states around the place (I admit I don't know if that is just south of the river or a cross-London phenomenon).

Happens north of the river too, plus a lot were in people's homes/compounds too!

You don't have to return it to where you started but to any docking station, press a button or two and then start a new 30 minute journey. You could swap to a different bike too.

I know but still, you've got to know where the stations are

Hahaha try, I really think "BenLondon" is a hardcore Londoner and wouldn't dare say anything bad about it or point out a single flaw out of hundreds

I'm a cycle courier in SE London. There are loads of these bikes riding around down here, along with the yellow Ofo bikes.

I keep thinking I should report them; but then again, Santander need to do some good in the community...so if their bikes are getting people active, then so be it

There should be some different brand pens you can find.
Sorry about not censoring swearing in my previous post, moderators, I tried to edit after I clicked submit comment but it wouldn't let me

Stations are almost everywhere, and if you find one and it's full I believe you can still say you tried but it was full and it will extend your time so you can find the next station. The main problem with the bikes is that they're utterly c**p. They're incredibly heavy, like they've made out of concrete, they only have 3 gears and none of them are high enough to get much speed out of, and it still seems very inefficient use of energy as far as a bicycle is concerned... Also it's a unisex design, meaning if you're used to riding a male bike with a high cross bar and you step off of it and go to lean it against your leg as you check google maps... you end up just dropped it on the floor, like a prick. Pretty embarrassing.
But, I just like to complain, they got me around London, mostly, I just wish I knew the roads a little better because on the bigger roads I had no idea when I needed to cross lanes in order to corner and google maps only told me about 10 seconds in advance which wasn't enough time at all. Got shouted at by taxi drivers, which are twats no matter where you are in the world. Don't think they expected a Northern response to their shouting though, had one pull right up beside me and shout "What do you think you're doing?!" and I replied "Trying to ride a f*****g tourist chariot you f*****g d**khead, f**k off!" didn't say much after that, the k**b head.
Cold, now i know where my fees are going, North to South, my money to more money. Hire bikes in London with Santander Cycles..
Who the hell is paying for my bank to do this? Santander customers should be up in arms!

Ah yes, because Santander don't advertise on TV, on Formula 1 etc etc.

There's a difference between international advertising which we can all see as transparent to the hidden little deals done with local cycle hire companies no one knows about until it's shown here. Backhanders anyone? And does any of the advertising budget find a way outside of London? Or is all the International advertising billed back there i wonder?

Nobody knows about? Seriously? This deal has been in place for ages, Barclays were the previous sponsors and the scheme is very popular. Maybe you should drop the Santander CEO a mail and tell him of your disgust and move your bank account to somewhere that advertises where you approve of
