Free 3 months for O2 Broadband Customers - if you re-sign

57
Found 23rd Nov 2009Made hot 23rd Nov 2009
This offer has sort of been posted before hotukdeals.com/tag/dea…ist but O2 have now made it official and automated by putting it on-line.

If you go to o2broadbandresign.co.uk/Def…spx you can sign up for another 12 months of O2 Broadband and in return you will get the first three months for free.

BTW I have checked who owns o2broadbandresign.co.uk and it is O2. They registered it on 29 October.

Also worth noting the other option I was offered is 12 months at £5 a month instead - saves a bit more.

wonder if topcashback as well?

cool - I didn't know about this - thanks - I'm very happy with O2 and will stick with em for another 12 months happily.

edit....

wonder if topcashback as well?

This cashback applies to new contracts and not upgrades.

So it shouldn't I guess.

Great tip....just done this online and seems to have worked! Great service from o2 so would recommend them to all. I went via quidco on the off chance....will let you know if it tracks (wishful thinking!)

nice one

Having looked at the previous thread

a) I wonder if the problem still exists where people are saying that they renewed for 12 months and the service went downhill immediately after

b) Can you still get £2.50 a month off if you ring up instead of the 3 free months?

3 free months for me = £22.50 whereas £2.50 a month off = £30.

Yes, thanks. I missed it last time too. According to the OP of the original thread you can get £2.50/month off your bill instead if you call them, which is better if you already receive the dicount for being an O2 customer.

02 gave me 12 months free broadband when I upgraded my pay monthly phone to an iphone.

It's not the fastest I've had but I get around 3.89 megabits per second and it's constant, I mean 24 hours a day, not like virgin where they limit your downloads during the day time.

So perfect for me for free. Hopefully this deal will be on when my 12 month is up as I'm happy to stay with them

Quidco charges £5 membership fee, Topcashback is free. I found that they both always have the same discount rates.

but will you be able to get cashback via topcashback from this deal?

I still think it's better to cancel with o2 and go with Be Broadband - at least that's what I plan on doing. They get generally good reviews and are owned by o2 so the service in theory is the same. Atm you can get it for £6.75 a month with £35 cashback via cashbackkings which works out at £46 a year or £3.83 a month

Do check that you're not wishful thinking there re
(a) do you have time to do it
(b) could you do it anyway.

At one stage Be were REFUSING to accept migrations (via MAC) from o2, so the only way to move would be either:
a) Migrate from o2 to another ADSL provider on a VERY short term contract then move to Be and hope offer still available (due to expire 30/11!)
b) Cancel ADSL on line (pay o2 express cancellation? but still too slow?) then start ADSL with Be.
I think you'll find it isn't as obvious a cash saver as figures would indicate.

o2 Standard customers would probably find it interesting how you get on or plan to get on.
Though personally I like UK call centres and use the free online SMS I get with o2 a lot (and the VoIP lines on my ancient o2 box that they no longer loan out) so wouldn't be tempted to move myself.

I just posted the link so it would make it easier for me (and others) to click on it lol

Tried this but just says not working call. Would it do the same if i did it on the o2 site maybe? Now the packages are 20mb instead of the 16mb I'm on so if i upgrade should give me the 3months free. Might wait till the sites working.

Just make sure you're not signing up to O2 Access (for non-LLU exchanges).. They've had BIG BIG problems with peak time congestion (speeds of 0.3MB down for instance) although they're promising to fix it within the next month.

Can you renew your contract if you're already under contract?

Not sure I am in month 11 and tried to renew but it threw up an error telling me to call Customer Services.

The question here is why?

Why are they offering this? Im happy to accept it, but is there something else that O2 Broadband has up its sleeve soon?

Unless you have a LLU exchange i would not touch o2. Just got out of my contract by making a complaint to ISPA then o2 contacted me and offered me 3 months free or my MAC code, so got my mac code.

The last month at peak times i could not use XBOX live, view any youtube clips, the connection keeps cutting out all night, its really bad! If you have a look at o2 forum there is hundreds and hundreds complaints.

as i said do not touch or get tied to another contract!

OP and Babbler how do you get the offer of 12 months at £5 a month instead of the 3 months free? do you ring them?
If so ton what number?

Cheers

I've just read that o2 will be emailing their customers soon with this offer or an alternative which enables customers to terminate their contract for free.

All down to their over subscibed network and poor network performance of late.

O2 has simply got too big.

Well, I still pay for o2 broadband for my mum at her house. I dont live there anymore and shes planning to move soon. Think ill hold off on this deal and let mum move, then resign up for o2 broadband with the quidco.

If i login to the o2 site it says i can upgrade from my 16mb package and go to 20mb package and it'l give me 3months free. This site isn't working but i presume it's the same thing really?

And yet they keep running these offers, heavily advertised. It is a good offer, so if their network is struggling why keep taking more customers? Even today there were ads saying about the 3 months free finishing end of this month.

If these emails do come to light it does seem a bit paradoxical (not sure it's the right word but I wanted to use it :p) to be encouraging and discouraging customers from staying with them in the same email.

o2 are a bunch of fly bast4rds. They charged me £50 to end a broadband contract early, and it was because I was moving house and the new house didnt have a bt line. So now on virgin media.... but dont get me started on those useless bast4rds!

That's pretty standard practice while you're in a contract lol... :whistling:

Twas 50 squids tho, and there was 3 months left of the contract which was £7.50 per month. The wouldnt let me just pay the remaining - had to pay the early leaving fee!

Hey guys i would like to point out to all whiners out there, ITS NOT O2's fault the service is so bad. Really its BTs for having old outdated cabeling. If they would only upgrade to fiber optic rather than god damn copper cable. O2 have to run through bt lines which were never designed for the amount of trafic on the lines now. I have a massive issue i pay for 8meg and only get 2meg at best checked on the bt website as to what the best speed i would get for my line it droped from 2meg last year to 0.5 meg now FK sake bt sort out your network the uk is so far behind in broadband speed its unbelievable.

Regarding peoples' experience of suffering service degradation following renewal, it happened to me last week.

Having phoned O2, it appears that what happened is that, upon renewing, they for for some reason reset my line back to the default settings.

The result was that the SN (signal-to-noise) margin, which had been increased to 12db in the past to counter regular disconnects (due to my distance from the exchange), had been reset to 6db causing connection problems at peak time in the early-mid evening (when there is most interferance on the line).

One call to their tech line and normal service was resumed, currently trying 9db to see how I get on (as increasing the SN margin lowers the connection speed).

You break the terms of a contract and then blame someone else? Nice...

well it was o2 who has bought it 'traffic management system' for peak times, which as not worked very well!! that's why they said they are trying to sort it

Hmmm odd, it didn't work for me.

Maybe O2 want to keep existing customers who are happy with the service while letting others go early without charges. This way they can keep most people happy and reduce their network size. Just a thought but it seems like they may be doing something positive. Been with O2 for about 2 months and service is great, got the first three months free and £50.00 cashback. Getting great speeds and no slowing during peak times. So far so good, will probably all go to hell now

Did I just see a guy from British Gas on TV telling us that they want more input from customers, maybe all the big companies are turning over a new leaf since it's coming up to Christmas. I am now lying on the floor laughing so hard that I've soiled myself... :-D
